That is what we use - need no oil to pop and just add butter and salt to taste

When I was a kid we only had Jiffy Pop. One time I was shaking it on the stove and it caught fire. Big ball of flames, I go to open the kitchen window which was a long skinny window with this collapsible handle you pushed "out" to open the window "out". I'm frantically pushing the lever but it was winter and it was frozen shut. I ended up by pushing, twisting the window frame and put a hug crack across the window as it opened and I threw the flaming Jiffy pop into the snow in the backyard

After a little research it looks like the trick is coconut oil and a product called flavacol ( available at Amazon) topped with clarified butter. Seams like a bit of work.

I have Flavacol inbound with the above mentioned popcorn. Supposedly it will adhere to air popped corn. Or it can be mixed in the oil for that kind of popping as well.

According to the package, it is flavored salt.

But, it has 2740mg of sodium per serving (1 tsp).

Looking up "table salt", it lists a serving as 1/4 tsp, with 590mg of sodium (2360 per tsp).

Interesting stuff. Super finely ground I assume? Maybe finer than table salt?

Flavacol is what I've been using, I think it was from Gordon's. I add it to the oil just before I put the popcorn in.

It supposedly is much finer than table salt. I have read where some put in it a shaker and tape over a lot of the lid holes to limit the flow.

Table salt is about 2300mg per tsp. Flavacol is higher probably due to the finer grains.

I have eaten popcorn with pepper and it is actually very good.

Allepo pepper supposedly is fantastic since it doesn't have as much bite as regular pepper.

Something else that can ease the hull or unpopped kernel issue is to lightly chew the kernels and not try to crush and grind them like a cow eating grass. Giphy - best friends vegan GIF by Mercy For Animals

Yes, Flavacol is definitely finer than regular salt. I put it in a shaker, try to not put too much in, but I'm sure the sodium level is much higher than is good for me.
