It is. Appears like this is the Tour's attempt to dissuade players from jumping to the LIV Tour.🤩

And, boost awareness of the Tour and it's 'stock'. 😉

garyt1957 They'd both lose, I'd like to be their bookies

I'd take the vig on Phil's bets.

I wonder if that is his NET gambling number or just the losses. He very well could have $50M in winnings to offset. Maybe the $40M is what was reported to the IRS.

The way it's written it's net losses. You can't write off losses if you have wins that outpace that. At least not legally. The IRS will make you pay taxes on any big wins even if you end up a loser at the end of the year if you can't itemize. Bastards

Hard to fathom this. His ego has got the best of him. Sad situation. Hopefully in time he can rehabilitate his image. Right now it’s as low as it can be.

If Phil plays in the LIV tournament in London, then all bets are off and his reputation is ruined forever. Right now he and Greg Norman are on the wrong side of public opinion.

Greg Norman saying (Sports Illustrated) in response to murdering a Washington Post reporter that (paraphrasing) ‘people make mistakes’ is either willful ignorance or intentionally disingenuous.

Both of which are not good at all.

Needs to play a tournament before PGA, he shall be back and I will win the Eguller contest, yet again.

He's a WD for the PGA. so you need a Plan B until the US Open.
          🙂

I don't think it's because he hasn't played an official tourney.
He could have played in the Champions Major this week if he wanted a tune up.
I think it's because he got the No Way Jose reject with his release request.
            Just a SpuzzMusing.

Spuzz So not a Spuzzervation, but a mussing, interesting, and noted. The release is odd to me, all it technically does is allow them to count against the min the PGA Tour requires for membership (15) plus the competition against PGA Tour event. The pros have to add more tournaments to get to the min, which they do not seem to like doing.
Then the whole thing about playing different tournaments. While they are essentially independent contractors held to a standard that is not independent.
No different than when he spoke out about the US Ryder Cup process.

I agree, he needs to come out and play and face the press. Get it over with and behind him. People will forget quickly. Look at Tiger, he's a hero again.
