7 wood favs ?

Picked the Rogue 7w out of my wife's bag and put a smooth swing on it and was impressed. What are your favorite 7w setups ? Component or OEM. Thanks.

One of the things I like about the V-Steel is it's smaller than the current offerings. The damn thing fits a hybrid head cover, and after hitting it on more than one occasion I've been asked what kind of hybrid I was playing. When I show them the 7w stamping on the bottom I usually get a surprised look on their face.

I've liked Ashton, Wishon and Ping G25. Not sure why I sold all of them, but hybrids have worked as well if not a bit better

toraider I'm currently gaming the MacGregor NVG2 and have found pluses and minuses. It's great in the fairway and off tight lies. Out of the rough, not so much and because it's a little on the shallow side, often pop it up from irregular surfaces.

Agreed, the 7W I have has skymarks as well. The length and lie seemed to agree with my swing when I used it.

Amen. Hybrids are hook machines for me too. I never really know where it is going to go.

I use a KZG Cobalt 7 wood circa 2004 shafted with a SwingScience 200 series r flex.
I hit it about 165. As others have said I'm a hook machine with hybrids.

The general consensus seems to be that hybrids are hook machines, especially for better players. Why is that? What is it specifically about hybrids that make them hook machines. Mine don't seem to have a ton of offset. I draw everything but the 5 and especially 4 hybrid will fade for me.

Once I started swinging hybrids like an iron the hook went away.

Has anyone tried the Synchron II in a 7 wood?

I’m thinking of building a heavenwood (7w at 5w length). Would the Synchron (or maybe even the Super Concord) work, or would it be worthwhile to pay up for a V-Steel or something with a larger volume head?

How easy is it for you to hit your fairways off the ground? Do you have lush thick fairway grass or is it tight lies? For the money the Maltby KE4 tour TC fairway head is hard to beat off any lie!

colej For as poor a golfer as I am, I’ve always been able to hit FWs off the deck. The Thriver Mini I’ve got works well as did my old TA 845 3w. My conditions vary as I play a range of courses in different seasonal conditions. (I’m in PA and will play through the winter as long as there’s not snow.)
