meagain funny how anything can be a weapon, especially a 4000lb, 300hp block of metal, but we only worry about the ones that fit a narrative, isn’t it? Also, I see nobody blaming the vehicle for the Operator’s actions, pretty odd how that works. I still see no bans on fertilizer and fuel after it took multiple lives in the shape of a truck bomb. No ban on cigarettes, which take hundreds of thousands of lives yearly, nor alcohol that causes the tragic death of many people everyday. I don’t want to see any idiot try to ban any of those things, just apply the same logic to guns as everything else. It’s the asshole using them for Evil that is the problem, not the inanimate object that is to blame.
Before anyone claims the problem is what the gun is designed to do and we should just get rid of all of them, let’s take a pause to realize that leaves only the law abiding people without protection. Government’s won’t give up weapons, “bad guys” won’t be giving them up either, the technology exists and is understood, they are never going away.
Until you can get rid of humans, there will always be weapons, the person with the more advanced one will always be in power. If you don’t want to be the guy with a knife at a gun fight, I suggest thinking before trying to roll back the clock on the common citizen, while technology drives on for everyone else. At this point, a common gun is about technologically equivalent to a typewriter in comparison to advanced weapons, but without them, you are nothing more than a moving target. With all the bitching about the rich having too much, it baffles me how many people WANT to give up their last layer of protection against the elite completely owning them.
Anyway, rant off.
