Self control is the issue.
People take everything to the extreme and after much thought, I believe in part it is people have became conditioned to instant gratification. Business wants everything now, little tolerance for delay in virtually everything. I have witnessed people who would not wait 5-10 minutes to receive a haircut. Electronic means have provided the ability to almost have everything in a moment.
I told my dad, "I know this country is in trouble when you can go bowling and can't even throw a gutter ball." The modern lanes have a mechanical panel that the gutter will form a "fence" that keeps the ball from going in the gutter if you choose. When we were there, they were inflatable "poles" the length of the lane that lay in the gutter. My point is: these games taught you a skill as well how to deal with humility. People are not dealing with or do not know how to control their emotions. I am not saying that we need to be Vulcans like Spock, but with cyber bullying and other instantaneous means to humiliate people, emotions can go out of control very fast. Cars have been made to where you don't need to be as good of a driver, as the car will brake better, or even itself if you make a mistake, so people are using their smart phones, etc. and are distracted drivers. Multiple points I am jumping around with here, but the problem is us. People may be bigger, stronger, faster, etc., but I believe our humanity as a whole is taking a step backward. Common decency, manners, kindness has suffered. Earth will never be a Utopia, but we need to learn to be more civilized if we are going to call this civilization.
