I was picking up baskets at the range and one of our members was there and he has a set a few years old. I grabbed the 7 iron. I’ve never hit these outside...

And, I have friends who have Epic Forged Star and Cally DCB's and they have gained yardage. I've
played with them for years and know their game. They do hit their lower lofted irons better now.
Both are aging, very good players.

Look at my bag. 😉 I recently hung up my XXIO Prime 7i and replaced it with a Prime 7 hybrid. These are true geezer game changers.

I do, however, have a few buds who are older than me who have had fewer orthopedic issues and still make pretty good swing speed. They play stuff that would not belong in my bag. They're the exception.......single digit playas.

By the way, I did play today with the same spare bag and shot 1 over. Kinda cool at a sunny 43* and 5-8 mph winds.
Just think, next Spring I will have some lightly hit irons. 😎

Well....bringing back the thread on the P790 irons.

I'm not going into details now, but I had to contact TaylorMade about my P790 irons - again.
They were VERY helpful and are going beyond what I expected to correct the problem.

I'll go into more detail when they come through on the issue (not a performance issue), but I will be taking
the P790's and some J. Cole RT shaft demos South with me soon and let you know how it goes.

The continuing saga of the TM P790 custom irons.....

Now the 2nd set is going back due to rust issues on the hitting surface (face) of the iron heads.
Through my club pro, TM is building me a new set and I'll be shipping my current set back under
warranty. They are standing behind their product however. Maybe the plating was not sufficient,
maybe too thin, maybe...... In any case, I'm not sure what I want to do when I receive them. They are
very nice, fun to hit irons, but ____. I'm not sure I could win a 3rd battle should it be necessary due to
whatever issues I may encounter. Or, do I take a slight hit and go for Cally DCB or PING i525 ?

I'll decide by mid March when they have been scheduled to arrive. 🤔🙄

Been there, done that. Tried the new 0211DC - no go. The original 0211 were good but odd shape.
Maybe the 0311P GEN 3 would work but the shaft is the key for me.

I’ve heard of the rust issues before. It’s almost comical that it’s cheaper for Taylormade to just keeps sending out new sets rather than fixing why their clubs rust.

I know they don’t question it which is nice. I think you feel worse about it than they do. Their idea of good customer service is to replace stuff no questions asked instead of being concerned with putting out a good product from the get go.

Many customers may not even think about it, or even notice it. But, I did. They did question it at first, but
then came back quickly with the replacement set. My Pro and I are not sure what to make of it. But.... can't
complain about their quick customer service. It's almost like I had raw heads, or the plating was not to spec.
Whatever.... I hit my old Cally CF-16s today well ( 4 birdies ) and confirmed their great 'feel'. Hmmmmmm.
