DonM According to Greg's twitter pic above, the Vikes will be 2 or 3, depending on SF. SF plays someone bad too, but will they be resting? Is there enough value in being 2 instead of 3 or would they just rest?
Winning in week 18 would give the 49ers a chance of being the NFC's #1 seed (would also need the Eagles to lose), and the first-round bye/home-field advantage are definitely worth playing for (as Gary said in this post). There's less difference between #2 or #3, as you're playing on Wild Card Weekend either way - being the 2nd seed means that you're guaranteed another home game in the divisional round if you win in the wild card round, but the 3rd seed may have an easier first playoff game (the Giants will be #6, with one of Green Bay, Detroit and Seattle being #7 - there's a case to be made that any of those three are more dangerous than the Giants).
