Unless, there were some idiots that would still tackle with their heads - leading with their face. LOL
Great story! After taking a year off from high school prior to college, I hooked-up with a bunch of ex-jocks who'd set up full 11 on 11 tackle - no equipment. All this guys played in high school. Geezuz! I was an offensive tackle in high school but dropped a lot of weight afterwards. These guys were maniacs! So I played offensive guard and linebacker. I happened to intercept a screen pass. My god did I ever regret that - sorta. Just about died. LOL
Then my freshman year at a Pitt branch campus, composed of just freshman and sophomores, they held a traditional Frosh vs Sophs tackle game, same deal. Professors were our officials. Both classes created teams and everybody got to relive their glory days, all being ex-players. Again, that was brutal! Lots of injuries and the school even had an ambulance on standby at the game.
