garyt1957 He might just be a bad interview. A coordinators job is totally different from a head coach's job . Being good at one doesn't guarantee success at the other. Or, it could simply be racism. But I think the majority of owners want to win and will hire anyone who they think can get them there.
Deliberately choosing an employee because of their color/religion/gender/etc., etc., is the stupidest thing any person or company could do, if they want the best employee they can find. I remember the days 'back when', when a company with x# of employees HAD to have a certain % of minorities. Migawd, what a mess some of those companies were. I'm not saying minorities themselves were the fault, I'm saying the companies were hiring the 1st person they 'needed' to fill the quota, that walked in the door. Capabilities be damned. And it was a rapidly revolving door, for the most part.
I laugh when I read about 'racism' mentioned when they are talking about head coaches in the NFL. A team is a company, is it not? Look at the overall employment of that team, and show the %. I personally do not care if any team is all black, all white, all whatever. But I do get disgusted when reading all this shit from certain groups that want nothing more than to cause strife in the world.
Eric never got a HC job for a few reasons, clearly. Foremost in my mind is not because of his color, but because he simply does not want to make the move. And jeezus, look at the teams he'd have to go to. Eric is a very smart man. But, imo, he should speak up and let the world know why.
Why is the NBA almost 80% non-white?? Racism????
