Dufferman Older music came up today when a cover a a Michael Jackson song came on the radio. My son asked about Elvis and I said he was a Rock and Roll singer, but I didn't think it would be considered Rock and Roll today?..... So, what is Elvis considered in modern music?
Elvis was the epitome of RnR in the 50's, got lost in the 60's with the movies and came back in '68 as a contemporary artist doing little real rock n roll, with the occasional "Burning Love" thrown in. He went more country late 70's. He wasn't that interested in doing RnR in the later years preferring power ballads and the like. But early Elvis was pure RnR. Check out the Sun Sessions some day.
