Yep, had one of those thin, lightweight grips pop on me once, bout shit myself. If you see it start to balloon somewhere, stop. Don’t be a dumbass and keep putting air to it.

I also have one that is two wire rods with a t-handle that is equally as difficult to use. I guess I must not be doing right with both. 😜

Rickochet I plan on only blowing grips off if I KNOW that they have been blown on. Otherwise, I'll just cut them off. Chances are that I'll only be doing this for myself and select few friends.

Rickochet it does get messy, but it's not that hard. I thought the same until I practiced on a few.

Not so nephew. The tube is optional and does not have to be used or can be easily removed after you get air flowing between the grip and the shaft. I use the tube until I get airflow going and then pull it off and just do short bursts while twisting if necessary. This tool has been working like a champ now for several decades.

This is true. I use a standard blow gun and a clear Lexan tube which is not attached. I can move it back over the gun tip and work the grip end with my other hand.

No one is going to POP a grip, if they have a regulator on the compressor. Or maybe I should say...shouldn't. They may not know what it's for.

Maybe it's my gorilla grip, but I tried it once and the grip moved all over the place.

Maybe that's the confusion on my post. I NEVER use the tube to install. It's in the way and keeps me from centering logo's, etc. I ONLY use the tube during removal.

Just add another layer of masking tape. I switch grips a lot. Sometimes grips stretch a bit and slip. An extra layer does the trick.

Rickochet I was at work and improvised.... I'll have to look into one for the future.

I have been using air to remove and install grips ever since I started tinkering with clubs probably 10+ years ago. Never had one pop, have had them balloon if they were installed with grip tape. I normally only use about 60psi at the max when removing or installing grips. If the grip starts to balloon, I just cut it off because normally after it balloons it is trash.

I always add at least one layer of masking tape just to be sure the grip doesn't slip. Never had any problems.

I like the blow gun with the long tube best. It stays in the grip hole better then the short ones.
