While I would never spend a lot of money($100+) on a putter, it is well proven to be the most valuable club in any bag, regardless of the cost. At the very least, it should be. Players search high and low for 'the' putter, most never worrying about cost, but when the right one is found, it should never be replaced. Never understood the reason for more than 1 putter, in possession, let alone dozens as some have. A putter should never be purchased unless it has been thoroughly tried, and all stores have some place to try them out. It does not need to be outside, or on an uneven surface, all one should be looking for is the right 'feel', in their hands. Most probably do not even know what 'feel' they are looking for, but when they get the right putter in their hands, they should know it, without buying a bunch of them that will be cast aside in a couple rounds. There are plenty in all stores for a comparison; maybe not all brands though & the right one may not even be in a particular store. The putter is the one club in my bag that never changes, and it didn't take me too long to find the right one. Then again, I(in my own mind) can putt with any of them; never tried the belly/long though, and never gave them a thought as something that might be needed, nor will I.
