wishbone Liked it much better as the Clam Bake and that crowd, but agree with Spuzz. It's different, there isn't anything else going onin sports, it's cold as heck outside, there are already enough crappy ass regular tournaments, so why not?

I watched a bit yesterday and will watch the final today. I love seeing the course - it's beautiful. I have ZERO interest in seeing any of the celebrities hit shots or Bill Murray acting like a fool. Consequently, it's a hard event to watch for me. Hopefully, today CBS will focus on the leaders.

always fun to watch. we owned in Carmel from 83-94 and attended many tournaments on the Monterey Peninsula, including 6 days at the 92 Open

I've been fortunate enough to play all 3 courses in rotation multiple times whit, to me, always adds something to the viewing. Rarely have seen PB look as good on T V as it does today

Phil struggled Sunday, really struggled early on. I think he was +1 on the round as he made the turn, and it could've been a lot worse. So many shots he was just coming out of them, coming up short with short-irons. As impressive as his round was Friday, it was equally as depressive Sunday.

Yet from 186 yards, with 8-iron, he puts it to 15 feet on the 17th and makes birdie. Suddenly there's life. Then just really hit a mediocre pitch shot on the 18th, coming up 5 feet short, lipped the putt, game over.

But... happy for Vaughn Taylor. He seems like a good kid, hadn't won a tournament in 10 years, you could tell that it meant everything to him to finally do it again.

Phil will have other chances this season, I'm sure. But he missed a great opportunity today, and I know it's gotta be eating at him this evening.

Exactly. Phil needs neither a victory or the money. Let someone who never sniffs a trophy take one. Phil has a lifetime exemption on the Tour. I'd rather these tournaments go to guys who claw and scratch just to stay out there, versus a guy who has owned the game for 30 years and doesn't need another W (or the $) for any other reason then pride.

I would like to see the Pro-Am format changed to top regional amateurs playing with a pro partner.

Frankly, I understand the sentiment, but I can go and watch some top amateurs play golf here locally. Generally, I will watch a few college or HS tournaments locally a couple times a year. I have seen a number of PGA players including JB Holmes and Justin Thomas play locally. But where would the 9.1 million given to charity by this tournament in the 2014/15 fiscal year come from? This tournament start by Cosby as a fund raiser for the local charities in the area. It has never lost sight of its history.

When the media gave Murray center stage with his antics, it really changed my attitude toward watching this tournament. Now the only interest I have is the last hour or so of the final round. The charity flourishes and we still get to see some great golf come Sunday afternoon. To me that is a win win.
