7 Wood suggestions

I hit a friends Mavrik 7 wood on the range and really liked it. But.... being a cheap Buzzer,
I am looking for recommendations for a 7 wood to try - component or OEM. Don't want to
put out $200 for a Mavrik just yet. Suggestions ?

Under suggestions of my buddy logicalOne I bought a krank formula X 7 wood head. Made a offer of $50 and he accepted. All this thing wants to do is go high and straight. You’d love it!

I have the 5 & 7. Faces are slightly closed, but not as bad, for some reason, as Integra branded heads. (I'm told ALL these generic/clone heads are made in Integra foundry, btw). Very surprising, and am still trying to get used to the distances they allow one to hit.

I had forgotten about the V-Steel. Could be a Winner. I did have several in the past and they were very good.

It’s bit larger size wise than what I’m typically using but I’ve hit it so pure from any lie. Sound is good not a crack but not a tin can. My confidence with this club is really high and I’m almost thinking of picking up a 5 wood head to put it up against my Maltby TC tour 5 wood.

To get the same feel and profile in graphite you have to spend a gajillion dollars.

One thing I noticed while doing the fitting days for Ping was how with the adjustable hosels on the fairway woods make things better.

Instead of the standard 3 and 5 wood set up, I pushed most everyone into the 5 and 7 woods instead. You would get 1.5 degrees of adjustability up and down with each head. Essentially I could turn the 5 wood down to 16.5 degrees... a 4 wood, which most are better off with anyway over a 3 wood. Shaft length is more manageable. The 7 wood could go down to a strong 5 wood or up to almost the 9 wood.

It was a no brained when I was fitting people. Even for me, if I were to do fairway woods, I’d go 5 and 7.

I've seen the same. I currently have an M2 HL 16.5 (as a 4 wood) and a PING G410 14.5 which is an
experiment as will be the 7 wood. The M2 is a rocket. I'm hoping for a high launch and soft landing
7 wood to make the bag. Maybe.

Years ago I spent most of the day harassing him about his 'LPGA' club. Then on 18 with the match tied he sent that 7 wood so far left I thought he was in the parking lot for sure. Then we see a ball in the fairway, but I'm immediately suspicious and think someone left it behind. I mean, how could it be his - he was in the parking lot left!

When we identified it as his you could hear me cuss three holes away!

I was so jacked up I blasted a lob wedge over the green and made bogey... to lose the match. ...To that jackass with a 7 wood.

And that is the story of the 7 wood. 😁
