There was a guy from Sacramento who was on TheSmokeRing forum who used kettles for everything. He had a collection of them and I think last I saw, he had over 12 and many times, had every one of them going.
He passed away last year, but it was interesting to see his collection (largely ones he got through garage sales or Craigslist).

Yeah, you can do most stuff on them. I have yet to try the charcoal snake brisket though. That's on the "to-do" list.

I have used a snake method one time. I had a hard time keeping the temps down where I normally have it with my UDS smoker, but then again, nothing wrong with smoking a brisket a little hotter as it cooks faster and the results are still good. If I remember correctly, the temps were around 260 instead of the revered and often quoted standard of 225.

I bought a new Weber Spirit e-315 this weekend. Regularly priced $649, I got it for $464 at Home Depot.

I seasoned the grates a couple of times, and used it for chicken and sausage last night. This grill has a nice even cook to it, which I love. Hopefully that doesn't change. Since I saved nearly $200, I also purchased the griddle insert. Still need to season it. But that'll be nice for eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc.

Just hoping I get another month or two to use it before winter sets in. But I love this thing.

PA-PLAYA I bought a new Weber Spirit e-315 this weekend.

I have had one of those for a couple of years. I bought a griddle insert on Amazon. Mine did not need seasoning. It also has a non stick surface. Weber has a nice grill spray. It is non-flammable. I get the griddle hot and spray in on and slap on the meat. I seldom use the grate anymore. After cooking I turn off the heat and pour some water on the griddle. It sizzles and bubbles and I hit it with a plastic grill brush pushing the debris to the back trough. Most of the liquid evaporates and the grill is clean and ready to use next time with no further cleaning. One thing I dislike is the LP bottle storage inside the cabinet which is hard for me to hang on the hook. I wish I had gotten a model the had the LP hanging on the outside of the cabinet.

When we moved to NC, the previous owners left a Sprit 2-burner gas grill, which was great for us since my grill didn't get here for a few weeks.

I really liked that grill as it did have nice, even heat, heated fast and did a really nice job.

But, after my 4-burner Weber Genesis grill came, I sold off the Spirit grill.

So, I won a Pit Boss Navigator. Really like it so far. The high heat option works great for steaks and I did my first set of ribs this past weekend. It's a little different than I'm used to, so there is a learning curve for me on the smoking side... but overall I'm extremely pleased with how well it works and how simple the operation is.

Had a Charbroil for over 20 years, but bought a Weber Genesis II at Costco a couple years ago.

Night and Day performance!

Smokingwise, I have a Visions Ceramic. Again, at a Great price. But an offset would be better to use. (Pit Boss, Traegers, etc.)

Just get something solid, not stamped steel. I prefer cast aluminum, not those stainless steel models.

They're actually "griddles". I don't have mine yet, but have been to several meals at my daughter's place cooked on our SIL's Blackstone. Great for flame-free grilling. Makes grilled veggies and seafood easier too.

Any of the ceramic kamado grills would be ideal. I have one plus a traeger pellet smoker and a gas Webber genesis. If I could only have one for rest of my life it’s the kamado hands down. Grills and smokes also can do pizzas. If you’re not familiar with them they are super easy and consistent. It holds temps really well. If you are just cooking burgers and steaks and always in a hurry go gas burner.

I have a Weber that is about 3 years old. Can't remember the model but has 3 burners. It has a two piece grill. I replaced one of the grills with a coated griddle I found on Amazon. I haven't used the grill side since I got the griddle. Cooks great and can cook anything without it falling through the grill. I also use Weber Grilling Spray. It is non flammable and you can spray it on a hot grill. I heat the grill, spray on the stuff and grill. When finished I turn off the heat and immediately pour some water on the griddle. It sizzles and bubbles for about a minute then I just brush off the griddle with a nylon brush and the little bit of water and debris is pushed to the trough in the back. The grill is clean and ready to go next time. Very little liquid gets to the drip pan. Easy peasy. 😜

sdandrea1 Keep looking at Blackstone, the griddle makes sense but I do like a good visible fire. I do burn things with a good fire.🤔

Yep, it's a Spirit E330. I had an original Spirit for almost 20 years. One thing I don't like with the E330 is the way the tank is inside the cabinet. It looks nice but my old geezer ass with a bad left arm can't lift a full tank up and hang it on the hook, plus you have to open and close the door to turn the gas on and off. I just leave it sitting on the deck in front of the grill. So much for the nice neat look. 😜

I’ve had my Genesis 2 Weber for a long time … probably 10 years. We use it year round here in New England. Every year I scrape down the insides. I could use new burners maybe…. I’m going to stick a paper clip in the burner holes to clean them. The igniter crapped out last year so I use a torch now to light it. Need new flavorizer bars…. Never been replaced yet. The frame is showing rust and peeling paint near the wheels but I could be from Dog pee rotting the metal.

I bought a new ignitor for my Weber and it took maybe 30 minutes to install (4 wires, one going to each burner). Simple and it wasn't that expensive, maybe $50.

The only thing I didn't like about the new Spirit e-315 I bought is that the side tables don't collapse and fold down. So I took them off and stored them in the garage. I prefer having the additional room on my deck.

I've already used it about 8 times since I bought it two weeks ago. I also went back and bought the Weber griddle, but I'm probably gonna wait until next spring before I season it and use it. Very happy with it so far!

Rickochet mine doesn’t have the cabinet doors, it’s open. The tank hangs to the side of the grill under the side table/wings. And it IS a pain in the ass even on mine without the doors. You have to crouch under the shelf to hang it on the hook. But like you did, there is really no need to hang it , leave it on the ground. Only need the hook if you move the grill around.
