Ack8236 I have an Oklahoma Joe's grill from Lowe's. It has 3 sections; gas, charcoal and a smoker box. Also has a side burner. It is big, heavy, and close to $500, but man does it grill well!

Rickochet I honestly don't know if I would have spent that much on a grill, they had a promotion a few years ago where you would text them a word and they would send a coupon of varying amounts. I was super lucky, my coupon paid for that grill.😳

I have a Weber gas 3 burner, a Weber kettle, and a Louisiana grills ceramic kamado. If I could only have one I say kamado every time. Lowe’s has a stainless triple wall version that’s much cheaper and still works great. I’m a lump charcoal guy though and do a lot of smoking. Today I smoked two racks of ribs then took out the heat stone and bbqd burgers and brats. I love this thing. Same as the green egg grill. Very versatile

The Lowe’s kamado runs around $300. The kettle about $200, my kamado was close to $1000. The gas Weber was $450. The kamado for $300 is a good deal I think compared to most other options. Stupid easy to use and super efficient. You get the two vents dialed in and it will hold temp for 12 hours plus.

Personal experience here, I would absolutely not buy a Weber Genesis. I replaced my old Weber last year with a new Weber Genesis, it’s bar none, the WORST grill I have ever owned. I mean absolute trash. It is a flare up machine and even after going through and cleaning it all out, to make sure I wouldn’t have a grease fire, the damn thing went up in flames. Absolute shit design, do NOT buy.

That is surely one thing I don't want. What is different about the new Genesis that makes it so much different than your old? What is the diff between the Spirit II and the Genesis. I was looking at a Spirit II 2 or 3 burner.

Does anyone own a Napoleon? The Napoleon Rogue looks nice with 3 burners, side burner and comes with a smoker box.

Rickochet Napoleon is a quality grill, the Rogue is their cheaper line, compares with the Weber. I have looked at it, didn’t pull the trigger because the one available was the 5 burner and I just don’t need that.

The Genesis is just not as well made as the old school Weber’s. The “flavorizing bars” are not effective, it doesn’t heat nearly as evenly as the old one and did I mention the damn flare ups? The Spirit looks like a decent grill, but I have no experience with the new one. The old ones were amazing. I’m just really disappointed in the value proposition from Weber these days. I’d look at a Broil King, pretty much the same quality in materials and looks like a better design to my eye. I should have stuck with my original plan and bought that.

Just used my new Vision Kamado for the first time yesterday. Man this this Gets Hot And Stays Hot for hours!

Only used about 1/2 of a chimney starter of charcoal and grilled 4 ribeyes. Turned out Great!

I was reluctant to go this route. But it's head and shoulders above my Charbroil Gas. (And I've had it over 20 years)

I have an insulated steel kamado (Char-Broil Kamander) that I believe was on clearance and discontinued when I bought it. Absolutely love cooking with it, but it is charcoal and takes a while to get to temp. Once there it stays all day though without the need to add any more charcoal unless cooking something that takes more than eight hours. It was a little less than $300 two years ago.

Also I’m no help... I had charbroils for years and they were fine. No arts were easy to replace as they wore out. I have a Weber Genesis now and it’s great... 3 burners.. blah blah...

meagain yep and they themselves catch on fire. I have taken it all apart, degreased everything, put it back together, had flare ups again right from the start. It’s a piss poor design IMO, the bars are too steep and not wide enough, also the grease trap is right in the hottest part of the grill, so it can be subject to lighting on fire itself, there are many people out there that have caught the whole grill on fire because the flare ups follow the grease to the tray and boom, the whole thing goes up.

I use a simple Weber Kettle Grill. A classic... Got tired of messing with Gas YEars ago.

Stick with the Weber brand. It has treated you well.

My brother and my son in law have both bought those flat top propane grills. Easy to clean and no kind of flare ups. Don’t know if that would be of interest of anyone but just throwing the idea out there.

I have the three burner Weber Spirit. Maybe 10 tears old. Still pretty much like new. Used year round even in snow. Replaced the flavorizer bars only with some Stainless steel ones on ebay. Burners are still like new also. Has been a great grill.

I really like my CharBroil infrared. I have had it for 8-10 years now and replaced the grates 1-2 times. Everything else is stock. I keep thinking about the Traeger to replace it, but I have a smoker that is only a couple of years old. I still struggle to think the Traeger gets hot enough for a sear, but didn't know if anyone here has had any experience with it.

Seymore101 the Traeger “can” sear, but I don’t have the patience for it. My buddy has one, for it to get to 500 degrees it takes about 35 minutes, the make up time is longer too, so if you go throwing a bunch of cold stuff on it, it gets too cool for my liking. I have a smoker and a grill, neither one is any good at trying to do the other’s job. To me, it’s like saying you can play gold with a hybrid as a putter, you can, and you only have one club to buy, but it’s going to be a helluva lot better doing it’s real job than trying to serve 2.
