Usually see the wooly bear caterpillars when out playing golf in Oct., but only been a couple times and was wet and cold and they stay in more than fair weather golfers do.
Just got done mowing and saw one on the drive. Typically, the past few years, they are brown head, brown 'tail' and some black in the middle section. That indicates winters that have been typical these past few years. Ease in, bad, ease out.
This sumbich had a black head about 1/2 the length of body, then a short brown section followed by more black😲!
Goes right in line with all predictions for the Midwest winter 2025/26.
