ode Finally got some rain ~ 0.5" ..... And chip /pitches are checking up and no bouncy ball effect at the home course
Played 1 course a week ago(muni), after an early morning rain. For the most part, FWs were soaked with some having standing water and carts on path only(those holes). Made for a lot of added yardages tee-green. But when any ball landed on any green, it was roulette time. Hard as concrete, fastest I've ever played on. They had aerated 1st week of Sept. and you could still see the punch marks. Had more 3 putts in that round than I've had the past 10 yrs.!!
Apparently, they had not been watering and just rolling them since early Sept..
Played a different course the next day. No water anywhere, could tell they had rain, but not hard/fast FWs like in July. Greens were same as they have been every day since early April, regardless of weather....temps/rain, while the FWs will have a bit of roll/bounce during hot/dry weather.
They take care of their greens. JMO, but yours does not, if greens are always same as FWs, dependent upon the weather.
You can have hard, bouncy FWs, yet have nice softish greens at the same time. Management.
