I suspect that the "rain city" title is to scare away the potential new residents. I should know since I lived around here since late 70s.
Yes, there are the typical wet months, like March-April and later September through November, but dry spell might be a surprise for the golfers. Basically if you don't mind tee shot plugging the fairway or the scorching 90 F temperature ( although humidity seldom over 80% ), we golf year round. At least that I used to golf year round. Rather stay dry and warm these days.
