Lived in New England for 47 years and you just endure the winters. Going to be a high of 80 degrees today here in Florida where we've lived for the last 16 years. Florida summers are similar to New England winters only in reverse. The difference being you don't need to scrape the humidity off your windshield here in the summer.

Was in the Godiva Chocolate store in the International Mall in Tampa yesterday doing some Christmas shopping. Was wearing my Patriots baseball hat and the young lady waiting on us complimented my hat. Long story short she was from Haverhill MA. where we lived for 23 years. She now lives here in Florida and doesn't miss the New England winters as well.

Unless you ski, skate or ice fish it's pretty much indoor activities for a few months. With the exception of Cape Cod where golf goes on as long as there's no snow.

      Snowing like a mofo right now in NE Wisconsin....about 1/2 foot already, supposed to keep on .... Should be an interesting game at Lambeau this afternoon.... thankfully it's the light and fluffy stuff.

            Release yes, but not as if Seattle is going to be unprepared....they know inclement weather too.....I give them the edge in this game, especially with Russell being healthy...he is lethal from out of the pocket, throwing and running....it will be interesting to see how Capers approaches the game, whether or not he brings pressure via the blitz and how he game plans for Graham.

                ode We have Winter here but not like at the Lambeau Field Wisconsin. All week next week we'll have high in the 35° F to over night low in the mid 20's. Mostly freezing rain Snow in the mountains and pass.

                Come to think about it, it would feel colder with the freezing rain than fluffy snow. I had stopped playing golf in the freezing rain about a year ago. Too hard on aging body it took out the fun......
                We used to play in the frozen tundra if the golf course is open.

                  Right now it's around 35*, but snowed yesterday.....we sent it on up to ode though, so not much. About 1-2". More on the way and temps going under 0 this week(at night). Hopefully, we'll be able to send it on up there to WI also!!

                  Got about 6" on the ground with about another 3" expected. Sucks

                  Yes, it will be cold this week, a few the days in the single digits for a high....ugh.

                  Two winters ago my daughter was considering transferring to either Northeastern or Boston University. Now understand - I value a quality education, and I know the schools up there are terrific. But at the same time, they're also much more expensive, especially considering there would be no scholarship offerings like she enjoys down at UGA. But... if that's where she felt she needed to be - obviously the wife and I would make necessary sacrifices to see it through.

                  We went up there over a 4-day break she had in February. She flew into Philly, we picked her up, came home and spent the night, then the next morning we drove up to Boston. It was miserably cold... there wasn't much snow on the ground but still it wasn't like you wanted to spend any amount of time outside if you could avoid it.

                  Compared to Athens, GA - it may as well have been Siberia. On the way home she said, "beautiful city, but there's no way I'm cut out to deal with that weather. I saw what I needed to see - I think I'll be happier in Athens."

                  To say that I was elated to hear her say that would be an understatement. I don't like it that she's 13 hours away, but at the same time I know she enjoys the warmer weather, not to mention that she enjoys having her car with her and traveling when she gets the chance. Just from the standpoint of her not being forced to drive in serious winter weather alone is a huge burden off of my shoulders, not to mention the $40k more per year in tuition that I would've had to assume.

                    R....my brother says Seattle is suppose to get heavy snows this year. He lives in the Sand Point area on a hill so he has to park 1/2 mile from his house even with 4 wheel drive.

                      Sand Point is close to U.W. where my youngest is, attending under graduate school. Used to know a few friends belong to the Sand Point Golf Club.

                      One thing we do have is hilly streets. And more drivers whom do not know how to drive in the rain and the frost ( newly transplants and new drivers, 27 per day moved into our King County from outside ).

                      Around my house near Issaquah, we have higher elevation than Sand Point. Many of my neighbors would park out blocks away on the shoulders on the main street because City would not clear the side streets until much later. Being environmentally conscious, we seldom spread salt on the street. The defrost agent they put on the roads will not help if accumulation is more than a few inches. The snow shoveling truck is the only way to clear the street when we have heavy accumulation of snow.

                      I have 4x4 not just AWD, but when the snow reach the bottom of the frame and the bumpers, nothing will move on a hilly street.

                      I think your brother is worried about the ice and frost built up on the roadway. Which is probable because U.W. and Sand Point will be very windy and much colder with wind chill factored in.

                        Wind chill factor is something we are very familiar with in SW Minnesota. A couple of days ago it was in single digits here (actual temp) but it felt much warmer than that because there was no wind. That is odd for this part of the country as we seem to always have wind. Much of this week it is predicted to be 0-single digits for highs and wind chills of around the minus 20's. We do not (in most cases) have to drive on very hilly streets however. It's very flat here on the prairie, which is also much of the reason for for always feeling the wind. There are not many valleys and not many trees, just flat farmland. You can see for miles in the country.

                        1st snow of the year. In teens tonight and the blower motor on my main floor air handler took a dump.

                        Temps in the low 20's tonight and barely reaching 40* tomorrow with rain all day and winds up to 25 MPH. No golf tomorrow or the rest of the week as it looks pretty much the same except for possible snow as well.

                        West-central Indiana here. Snowed here all morning. Negative wind chills Thursday night but 50 deg Saturday. I'll never understand the weather...

                        Played golf exactly two weeks ago here in NW Ohio....not today though! There are about 6 inches of snow on the ground from Sunday night and about 20 degree temps. Shoveled my butt off yesterday b/c the snow was so wet the snowblower couldn't handle it. White Christmas coming up, then off to FLA from mid-January to mid-February.

                        First road closure of the year a few hours ago. Squalls are coming in off the lake. You haven't lived until you have driven in 50 mph winds in lake effect snow streamers...

                        Right now, 13 & w/c -7, been a bitch of day with those winds at 21+ mph. Think the high actually got to 21, but dropped like a bomb in just a few minutes. This weekend looks like total Arctic crap.....Sat. 24 high, -13 low. Sun. -2 high, -11 low. And the bastard winds shall blow on top of all that.

                        I'm beginning to think I hate winter. All over again. We got spoiled last year; we'll pay for it this time around.
