It can't be all about SS, and might be more about how you swing. I'm probably a big sweeper as I have no problem elevating a 3 wood and I'm only about 90 with the driver. Probably why I'm not a great iron player either. I hit a real nice 3 wood today in a tournament onto the green on a par 5 from 195. I used to play a driver off the turf before they got too big. I'd gladly trade though to be a better iron player. That good 3 wood was the only time I hit it all day where you're using irons all the time.
