Kind of an interesting thing, kinda wonder what it would do for a beginner such as myself. I'm too cheap to go buy it right now, just to try it. Figured I'd see if anyone here has been tempted enough to pick one up and try it.

The philosophy is certainly not new. As for myself, my driving distances only continued to increase in distance and accuracy as head size increased and shafts lengthened to 45 inches. I haven't experimented much with shafts longer than 45.5 inches and so I can't speak for even longer lengths. In this most recent year my distances have decreased due to age and fitness, but you won't convince me that I need to go to a shorter driver or smaller head. Everyone is different though, and you may gain enough control and hit more balls in the center of the club with a smaller club if you're hitting the driver inconsistently.

The mini driver has been around for awhile, I had a 12 degree SLDR that was money for awhile. Probably find the TM mini drivers or Callaway Deep FW's for much cheaper

Another thing to try would be a Thriver. Basically a high lofted driver that has a shaft the length of a 3-wood.

I tried it for a while with a driver that was 13° and it was straighter than my driver and only about 10 yards shorter.

When this was a topic of discussion on FGI and here, I never did get around to asking a question I had in mind. So, if you don't mind, I'll ask it now.......Why??

Why does it have to be 3 changed things.....shorter and more loft + more weight? Why not just a shorter driver, as that is the reason people are not hitting straight. Loft is totally irrelevant to that aspect.

I am not sure why you would think loft is irrelevant. More loft means the ball goes higher and generally has more backspin, which would counteract any sidespin that people normally would have, so it should go straighter.

Looks like a hybrid shaped 3 wood. I wonder what weight it is. Really it's just a tall faced 3 wood so probably more forgiving off the tee vs a 3 wood but not really sure how is any better than a mini driver

Interesting. Might be good for somebody struggling to make good contact with driner, in who sprays the driver. Might also be a good club for off the deck in place of a three wood, especially for anybody who really has confidence with their hybrids and never liked traditional 3-woods.

Buy it. Try it and report back. That is the only way...
