To me, and again...TO ME, this is like watching Baylor lose to KU and stating KU is a better team because you happened to see them in ONE game vs. each other. They split the season series, but if you happened to just see the ONE game of KU beating Baylor you would probably be speaking in terms of KU just being better. Yes, better, for THAT ONE GAME.
Is Baylor better than Gonzaga generally speaking as in if they played 10 times Baylor would win more than 5? I don't think so. I know you do. It was a terrible night for the Zags. Those games happen to every team. Baylor does play tenacious D but, again, Gonzaga losing in that scenario doesn't mean that Baylor would dominate them again if they played.
Gonzaga was #1 for a reason. It wasn't Baylor. The intangibles were all heavily in Baylor's favor for that one Monday night. They hit the 3s that the Zags didn't. The start alone had much to do with it. You think if they played 10 times Baylor starts out like that 6x out of 10? I don't.
I think UNLV probably destroys Duke 9 times out of 10 when Duke crushed them that season. These things happen.
