Well Mar 23rd came, I went, and on that afternoon I stood next to my be bed. I would like to say I felt like a million bucks, but after that invasive of a procedure, well there is some pain,

To be honest I had more pain the first night from trying to sleep on their state of the are mattress that every 10 to 15 minutes would inflate and deflate various parts of the mattress, at least you could stop the raising and lowering of the head and feet, for one hour. But the worst was the sheets and mattress material, they wouldn't let you slide your body to move it. I know i don't have the upper body strength I though I had,. Quite strength draining getting up and down, etc.

I only had one night on the rack the second night they let me sleep on the couch., I was suppose to go hope but a mix on orders and I had no walker. So one more day. I was able to much to my surprise walk from my bed to the door and out down the hallway. First time did half the hall way and back. Next trek out, thinking I was going home, the entire hallway and made the turn to the exit, short lived, they redirected me back to my room.

Pain quite manageable after initial day of surgery, been on Tylenol only.

Each morning I wake up feeling more like my older self. PT goes well and I am covering over 300 feet including inclines and back. Discovered that I can walk almost as well with the cane, but thats next weeks project.

Next Major Milestone, April 5, by then I may have most restrictions lifted and and and start putting and chipping.....

Thanks to all that posted earlier, I was able to prep the house, get all the med stuff, convert the shower, etc. so I would be able to come home an be safe.

Great to hear! Sounds like you will be your old self soon. ☺

Good to hear that the pain is fairly low. Praying for quick recovery, and speedy return to walking full courses!

He could probably beat most of us at golf even walking with a cane.
Sounds like you are making good progress! I hope you will be back on the links soon.

Glad that you are on the road to recovery. Please keep us informed about your progress!

Beat of luck Martee! The good weather is coming sounds like you will be able to get out a bit.

Hip hip hooray! Glad your pain is manageable and you'll have mobility back.

    Good to hear!
My buddy's GF had both hips replaced and she was able to go hiking within a few mos.

I'm surprised they kept you in the hospital for two days, I got sent home the same day. Are you married or have someone to help you out at home? I couldn't imagine being home alone those first couple days. It's rough early on but you'll be so glad you did later.

Actually they scheduled all there THR for 4 days, so for me going home was scheduled for Friday afternoon. Most seem to go to a SNF for a week to 10 days, guess they figure or have experienced that seniors are not always the bedt care givers in that situtation. Of course the patient has the option.

My daughter came down to stay with me, walk the pooch, and ensure I dont try and do something stupid.

My feeling better level doubled walking through the front door, no longer in the hosiptal.

Several of golfers at our club have hip replacements, they unfortunately experience some lingering pain after coming home.

But reading various posts here, have given me a very positive outlook.

      Tks everyone

Martee Actually they scheduled all there THR for 4 days,

Wow, I'm surprised insurance will cover that. They seem to want to get you up and out here.

Just don't try to start playing right away. My old playing partner came back too soon and he paid dearly for it. He was a Navy Seal and of course the pain was nothing that could keep him from coming out and playing, walking 18 three times a week. Not to mention practicing most days as well.
That being said good luck with your transition from the surgery to the golf course. I wish you all the luck in the world and that you will be back playing well before the season is over.

Good to hear you're on the mend, friend. 🙂

I'm heading in Tuesday to get mine done (right hip). If all goes as expected, should be coming home Wednesday afternoon.

Praying for you! Hoping you continue to see good, steady progress in the coming days and weeks. 🙏

letthebigdogshunt hopefully nobody misunderstands this, seems to me that most of the guys who are 'Tip of the spear' are kinda stupid when it comes to a lot of the pain issues when they don't have to be. Joint replacement is one of those things that can't be 'walked off'.
One needs proper time to heal. Especially when one isn't in the middle of a combat zone, or needing to get back to activate duty.
I do understand that those guys are absolutely amazing at what they are able to go through and still operate at the level they do.
