A blast from the past. I've been a Memphis Tiger fan since 1977, when they were also in the Metro Conference. Loved the clashes they had with Virginia Tech and Louisville. Those were fun times except for my least favorite final four moment.

Nevermind on Brown. He's the son of former Packer and Hokie legend, Robert Brown. I was certain he played at Va Tech but I can't find any info on him.

Those were good games. Keith Lee was a beast, I was there in the wins in 83 and 86 when Memphis was ranked #1. Although Lee was gone in 86, Curry was a senior. The Metro was a fun conference

Yeah, I told the story in another thread awhile back, but I did have to try and guard him in the post in an intramural basketball game. Not sure he even noticed when I hacked him... Lol

I think that one is obvious once you consider that the Big Ten was setting a conference record for most teams in with nine. Making one of them play a play-in-game, when "strength of conference" was so hard to calculate based on so few inter-conference games played this year, was probably generous. And, based off the Big Ten's results ... seems even more so now.

Stu1961 I think they had more wins against top 10 teams then anybody. But most of those were Big 10 teams who like you say maybe didn't belong there.
