Toulon
I was on the floor, deflated, when that shot went in. We were living in Houston at the time. That was easily, and by a large margin, the most hard-nosed team Pitino ever coached at Kentucky. When Sean Woods hit that bank shot from the paint, more of a prayer really that just happened to go in, I knew we had that game won.
Then Pitino decided to not put a defender on the in-bounder. Laettner... never was a fan, but he earned that moment. A moment that will NEVER escape the memory of a diehard Kentucky fan. Legendary KY radio commentator, Cawood Ledford, who I listened to religiously growing up, called it a career after that game. What a game to go out on. Still the most exciting game I've ever watched in all my years watching March Madness.
Back when college hoops wasn't a semi-pro league.
Credit to Grant Hill... Absolutely threaded the needle ala Tom Brady to Laettner. He never gets credit for that.
