Grip tape solvent?

I have an old roll of grip tape and a bottle of solvent that I have been using for a long time. I am almost out of both.
It is from Golfsmith and the solvent says "water activated grip solution".

I was looking at getting more, but was wondering if the grip tape solvent they sell is water based or not? What I have has worked fine, but if I am getting new stuff, it looks like everything is "solvent based" and I am guessing that means that it is not water activated and I will have to toss the remainder of what I have?

Just go with mineral spirits. Cheaper and works with all tape.

I'd toss it and get the regular grip solvent from Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy.

Mineral spirits, but I only tape off the butt end with masking tape about an inch down and then blow them on. I only use a little mineral spirits. I have not used grip tape in years. They just stay put.

I can blow grips on and off. I did replace my stock grips on my M3 irons recently by cutting off the old (they didn't want to come off, they just bubbled and popped) and when I put the new grips on, I didn't remove the old tape but I used some of my water activated solution to help get them on with the air. 3 days later, they were moving on the club, my guess was the old grip tape didn't like my solution.

I should have just used air from the get-go with nothing more.

I use lighter fluid, if not air.

Air is great, except for Chamois grips I have found.

I takes a little practice, especially to get the alignment right. But it is fast and when you're done the club is ready to play.

I have used air for years but you need to learn to do it properly. There is a bit of hazard if you don't know what you are doing when blowing off a grip and it blows up in your face.

I used to use paint thinner, works fine too. Just don't use it if you are smoking when you put the grips on.

In my experience, using air to remove grips is easy IF THEY WERE INSTALLED USING AIR. If a grip has been on a club over 2-sided tape for years, I'll try, but usually end up cutting them off. Installing with air is 2 EZ.
