Walterjn Walt, I'm seeing something I don't like, in pic #2. Where did you get that adapter? That ferrule looks like it is an iron ferrule, .370, not .335. It does not fit.

Did you have the same gap when putting the shaft in the adapter?

You won’t have fingerprints... the epoxy will give you smooth tips.... or you’ll burn them off with a heat gun.

Learning to reshaft is dangerous...even more so with the shaft adapters so you can go to the range with one head and 4 shafts to try and then when 3 all work the same you go home and pull the adapters off, sell the shafts and get 3 more and start all over again

Par4QC the ferrule came with the adapter. It fit really tight on the shaft, tight enough that I had a hard time getting it past the end of the paint. I dropped it into some hot water and did my best to gently expand it so I would rip paint off the shaft. That is why the ferrule looks like that. I did that damage, not the company who sold or made that.
If you look at pic 3 you will see that the ferrule is not parallel top to bottom. That was also me, trying to o expand the ferrule.

Par4QC if the adapter was loose I would have posted pics showing that and asked questions. As it was the adapter fit like a glove, it would slip on the shaft, spin easily when rotated, wouldn't rattle when shaken. After I applied the epoxy to the inside of the adapter and a light smear around the shaft, upon inserting the shaft in the adapter, I gave it a full 360° rotation then aligned the shaft. There was very little epoxy coming out. I then pushed the ferrule down and cleaned up the excess epoxy. Pic 3 you can also see a little bit of epoxy that I did quite get off. I can scratch it with my nail and it comes off.

Yes, testing tomorrow, well that is the plan anyway.

You can dry fit the adaptor then mark a line on the shaft about half the width of
the ferrule.
Wrap some masking tape around the shaft where the mark is and remove some
more paint (just down to the graphite) with some sand paper (if you don't have a belt sander).
This will make it easier to get the ferrule on and give a clean finish to the shaft.

Also while the epoxy is still wet, you can easily remove any excess with some alcohol on a paper towel.

darpar the ferrule and adapter both fell a little bit short of the stock paint.

With ferrule. I painted the gap to make it blend. I wasn't willing to screw up more stock paint epoxying the adapter on.
All in all, I figure that I did a pretty fair job for my first club.

You did do a good job for a "newby". 👍
Next time if you run into the same problem with some graphite being exposed
above the ferrule, it's much easier to just trim that much distance off the tip of the shaft.
An 1/8-1/4" shorter shaft won't affect much of anything.

darpar thanks for that vote of confidence.
As far as trimming, I would have to talk to a friend about borrowing his arrow trimmer for that. A little paint worked well this time. Pics 3 & 4 you can barely tell there was something wrong. I'll see about getting better pics with natural lighting tomorrow for you all.

All you need is just a cheap little hacksaw to trim graphite shafts. Just put tape, like painters tape over the shaft first to prevent fraying of the graphite and you're set - super easy and quick!

I hit tight ferrules with a heat gun on the low setting for a few seconds. They slide right on.
You'll need a heat gun.......shaft puller........shaft clamp........torch.......belt sander........loft/lie machine.......gripping station........air compressor/grip installer/remover........reaming bits.......etc. 😈

I start doing my own grips I think the compressed air is going to be the way to go...

sdandrea1 microwave a coffee cup of water for one minute. Toss in the ferrule for 1 minute.

I put a cutting disc on my bench motor for shaft trimming. The other wheel is a Scotchbrite disc.

I use both the tape/hacksaw and the cutting disc. Just depends on what's more convenient at the time.

For trimming/cutting graphite shafts I tape where the cut goes and use my
band saw while rotating the shaft as it cuts.....get a nice clean cut every time.
A small cut off wheel works great too.
