Softstep . 370p question

I have some wedge heads I got from Rick and Matrix Studio 84 "strong" flex shafts that I want to put in them. I want them to play softer than strong and actually softer than stiff. The tip trim I've found says 3.25", should I just skip the tio trim all together? 1" =, sorta, 1/4-1/3 of flex? What would you do, if you were me? Keep it clean, Rick.😁

If you are referring to the eTille heads you might want to check the head weights. I think one was about 300g and the other about 311.

Yet, you don't want to have to use 27 wraps of tape to get the grip size correct. Go an inch on tipping. You are not going to notice the flex in a wedge, most likely.

Personally, I'd skip the trim on those beasts. I've played ladies graphite wedge flex shafts and other than weight, I can't tell the difference. But you're still a big strong dude, so......

LB got 1 of the nicest swings I ever seen. For a guy that is 250, or a guy that is 150.

Have you googled "“using 8 iron shaft in wedges". I know I had a thread on here about it too. Maybe look up Tiger Stepping too.

I just went back and looked up a tip from www.ralphmaltby.com on this topic. FWIW, they estimate that soft-stepping
by 1 equals 1/3 of a flex, by 2 equals 2/3 of a flex, etc.

I think there is some confusion on the spinner trick for wedges. I understand it to be going one flex stiffer then your iron shaft and using the 8i shaft, so you are essentially getting the same/similar flex but lower flight and more spin.

If you use the same shaft as in your irons and use 8i trim or the 8i shaft (.355/dedicated). You would get more spin and a higher ball flight.

1" less tip trimming should be the equivalent of soft stepping 2 times.
