Club review thread

Eguller ….and, he hasn’t reviewed putters in a while
Well, you have to remember "how I manage courses". I play "position" golf (Par 4s=Fairway tee shot, approach close to green on the proper side and up-and-down for par). Most of my GIR are on short par 3s and 5s. Birdies are rare, but so are double bogeys. Consequently, my game relies on accurate driving, strong chipping and putting, so I don't ho as much in the Driver, wedge, putter arena. The middle part of my bag gets the most inventory turns.
Right now, the Honma XP1 driver and my PING CRAZ-E/ODYSSEY Works Versa VLine putters are HUGE contributors to my scores. Can't be messing with those.
I did recently pull the all hybrid ACER XDS out and played a few rounds with my Cally 2004 BB irons. The soles on the Cally might be as wide as the ACERS. I gotta say that at address, an "iron-shaped" club seems more normal to my eye than a high-lofted hybrid, but the performance is the same.
Acer XV Professional irons going out at 11:33 EST. Stay tuned for Holy Grail status.
sdandrea1 changed the title to PapaD's Holy Grail thread .

It appears that Holy Grail / Unicorn club status is as fleeting as swing epiphanies. Everything in golf is temporary for everyone.
But it is fun when you find something that works no matter the duration.
Sneakylong 'They' all work! And for the most part, all work the same.
It's just a matter of using them/having them/buying them. Nothing more, nothing less.
When you go out with the same clubs 10 times, and shoot the same score 10 times, that is boring as hell to me...and Steve. Even if it's 10 different courses.
I used to change clubs, just not as often as you and Steve. Golf clubs are like cars. They all get you from point A to point B. Funny, but I buy new cars and and keep them a long time. Wish I had applied that to buying clubs.
Would've saved a lot of money. lol

It's amazing that only one fucking person in here gets this.
Sneakylong I buy used cars/trucks, and keep them forever.
Leaves more $$ for clubs.
So anyway, the ACER XV Professional iron heads got a 9-hole outing today. They're typical good component heads. Nice Callaway clone. Perform like any other but don't feel as good as their multi- material high tech Callaway models.
The K15 driver is STILL a VERY good unit.

I bought several sets of those irons when GolfEtail had them dirt cheap. Played 1 round and was surprised. I then sent all the sets off for the kids at my home town course.
I have the Acer Tour Blades now and they are as good as any OEM. (you can thank me later )
