Club review thread
Hey, latest tech at premium prices is not for me! I am not that good, so I go back a few years when I change.
What I prefer to do is go back for 3-5 year-old stuff that has proven to work. That way, if I do not like it, no big $ risk.
Case in point: tried Callaway Apex CF16 irons a few years ago @ club demo day. Liked them & filed info away. Last year, my Bridgestone J38s with steel shafts were losing mojo so, looked for & got deal on those Apex CF16 irons used (<$200 for 5-PW in Recoil Graphite, plus new grips).
Same with XXIO Driver & hybrids--the 9-series (circa 2016) is fine for me for a couple years...total investment <$500 for these three clubs. If I find something better down the line, wait year or so & make switch---new XXIOs--no way!
(Anyone have a 5-6 year-old driver in R-flex worthy of trying for backup/guest bag?)

If I buy XXIO stuff, it's gonna be used, for sure.
Played the XXIO Prime 11 irons again today but added the Prime 11 6 hybrid. It's 26 degree loft and with that shaft is a MONSTER launcher.
Played 18 today in 39 degrees and cloudy. No breeze but still a bit raw. Took @Bravopilot PXG 0811XF Gen 2 driver (loaner) out. Aldila NV 55R. The QUIETIST driver I've ever hit. Almost no sound and very soft/solid feeling. Easy to hit straight. Shaft being a little heavy for my tastes kept the flight a little low, but it's a fairway finder! On a whim I grabbed SWMBO'S PING Rhapsody irons. Green dot with men's midsize grips L flex graphite. Best iron striking day I've had in a while. I HATE it when that happens.

You know, at some point, we're all gonna have to confront that issue as we get older.....playing
with shafts that are soft enough to really fit us and benefit our games the most, just like we had to when we
switched from stiff to regular, and from regular to senior. I've thought about it, and although I'm not ready for
it yet, I know they make BLACK graphite shafts in ladies flex, and I can scratch off the "L" easily enough if my
ego gets in the way!
