Subsonic There are probably a lot of folks on here who have not played enough persimmon to have an opinion about persimmon drivers. When I got into golf it was already a metal game. That was about 20 years ago.
I caught the start of the transition from wood to metal, as I started playing around 30 years ago - wasn't much difference in size at that point (if I remember correctly, it was Callaway with the Big Bertha that started the movement towards larger metal heads).
As for a classic head, the TM 510TP is one of the best - not as forgiving as current drivers, but long when fitted correctly and hit solidly, and one of the best-feeling metal-headed drivers that I've used.
