Johnny Manziel who won the Heisman Trophy in 2012 and spent one forgettable year in the NFL before his career plummeted into the abyss, now has his sights on trying to become a professional golfer. Appearing on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, he spoke about his latest dream.

“I’ve been thinking about this the last couple weeks,” Manziel said. “I’m gonna give myself 12 years to try and play professional golf. I’m gonna grind this out and see how good I can get and see if I can’t enter some tournaments, and see if I can’t go play professional golf eventually.”

It sounds like he can already play, but judging from his football career I would question whether JM has the discipline and self control to make it as a golfer. Maybe his lack of success in pro football has humbled him some. Time will tell, I guess....

Could be fun to watch. I have no idea what his life is like, but it doesn't seem like it could be much worse than what has been reported for John Daly. I wonder how long he hits it?

If he could do it, it'd be a helluva story.

And if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.

I thought he was playing in the new Fan Controlled Football League.

He's currently in the "FCF (Fan-Controlled Football) League" giving football one last shot.

I'm pretty sure he made a guest appearance in one of the Golfholics videos. If I remember correctly, he was pretty darned good, and length won't be a problem for him. He hit some drives in the 330 range, if memory serves. He also showed remarkable touch around the green and was a decent to pretty good putter.
He might actually have a chance, especially on one of the minor tours. Make fun of him all you want, be he is actually a very good athlete. If he gets his personal life together and actually dedicates himself to it, who knows?

rsvman2 I just think it's likely too late. Who's the best pro golfer who started late in life? I think Greg Norman was 19. I know there's one other guy who won PGA tournaments who started real late, like 25? Can't remember who though.

Yep. Dude can play. Not sure he can get to pga but .....
