I said, the day that the accident happened that the very first thing you would EVER hear him say is that he WOULD play again and that he would use that "platform" to compare himself with Hogan.

I have no issue with the Hogan comparison. Anyone with the ability to read knows what Hogan went through and what he accomplished afterwards. I take it for what it is, hopefully Tiger can use it as inspiration and tee it up and be competitive again. I would be amazed if he wins again and another major would be monumental.....was gonna say Hoganesque but don't want to offend the geezers on this board😉

SMT I find it difficult to compare one to another except for both were PGA Tour stars and both were injured in car accidents.

It's far easier to contrast the two. I don't even like using the word "accident" with Tiger, because when you do stupid things, causing your own situation to a degree, the arrow on the fault meter should move, in a correlative way to how stupid the action(s) were, from "an accident" over a couple notches toward "a likelihood". We need more words (or maybe I just need a better vocabulary) to be able to better differentiate between someone struck by lightning, without warning, and a Darwin Award candidate. 😜

I think Tiger essentially downplayed any grandiosity regarding his return. From the tone of what I read, it would simply be incredible for him if he can ever make it back physically to swinging a club and walking a golf course four days in a row.

And I think ultimately that's the only realistic expectation anyone could possibly have. Lest we forget that the accident aside, he also underwent a spinal fusion just prior to the automobile accident that almost killed him. Not to mention that he's closer to 50 than he is 40.

He did run cross country at Western HS, so I'd say he probably has/had some pretty strong legs.

darpar he'd have to to carry that YUUUGE upper half, but they are sure disproportionate in comparison. He was 120lbs, soaking wet. Wonder what he weighed when he hit the tour and compared to what he weighs now. 🤔

This might be the very first time I have ever heard this event described as a "competitive golf" event.😂
If Charlie is hot with his driver again this year, and still qualifies to hit from the front tees (along with 86 year old Gary Player, and 82 year old Lee Trevino) that gives them 1,900 yards off the 7,100 yard course. They should do okay. Tiger is still either the third or fourth youngest pro in that field.

I noticed that myself. Having had surgery on both legs above the knees I have reduced strength in my legs and I can tell you how much of your golf swing strength is in your legs particularly the driver. It will be interesting to see how Tiger does on his right leg. I wonder if they will let him use a cart?

Bravopilot Figured it was the only way he could even think of playing. And I bet if Charlie hits it good from the tee that Tiger might skip hitting some tee shots. I know he did that last time.
