Actually he did. That's how we got to the weight issue. He'd like my LDL to be under 40 (instead of the recommendation of 70). I told him I didn't want to take any more meds, so he's thinking if I lose 30 pounds and get my BMI down in the mid 20s, my LDL will drop. My cardiologist is happy with my LDL in the upper 60s, but I'm not against the idea of getting back under 200 lbs. My feet and joints are much happier at 195 than at 225.
BTW, LDL recommendations for candidates without chronic heart disease in the family is under 100. For those that do have CHD, it's under 70. My PCP says that when you get under 40, you're actually removing plaque from the arteries. He's mostly concerned because my calcium CT score is a shit show in the Widow-maker artery. I see the cardiologist in 3 weeks for his guidance.
