Rickochet Woke up this morning and Auto Brew coffee maker went belly up. Zero temps out and ice on the roads made me resort to instant coffee. I haven't had that in years and I forgot how nasty it is. Aaaak!!!
Walterjn Rickochet look into Café Bustelo instant. It's about the best instant I have found. I keep a jar in the truck when I'm staying overnight someplace that doesn't have much in the way of coffee.
Bravopilot Rickochet I do like coffee, always keep a brand-new maker in the box. Only keep them for a 1 year's use. I call myself quirky😎
garyt1957 Rickochet I haven't had that in years and I forgot how nasty it is. Aaaak!!! I'd rather not have coffee at all.
Rickochet Walterjn look into Café Bustelo Bought new coffee maker this morning. Hopefully may never have to use the jar of instant we have again. I also got some powder Coffemate hazelnut creamer which would have helped this morning. Thanks for the tip.
Bravopilot Walterjn Will try it but not an instant coffee guy, but when things happen want to be prepared. Only drink instant when I travel to Israel--they only have instant in the meetings. Very strong Turkish coffee with heavy grounds in the bottom of the cup. Very strong.
Walterjn Rickochet I have tried more than a few instant coffee brands. Café Bustelo has some wonderful espresso (non instant) the instant is almost as good. Good to hear you got a new coffee maker.
Typhoon Rickochet the jar of instant How old you figure it was? Didn’t know you could buy jars of instant coffee anymore.
KCee Walterjn I'll have to try that one. I hate to say it, but my favorite instant is the Starbucks Via Italian Roast in the individual packets. I love coffee, but I'm lazy so I'm not traveling with my AeroPress lol.
Walterjn Bravopilot they also have cans of ground coffee you can run through your drip machine. I've always heard that instant coffee was crap, the café Bustelo instant is good.
Bravopilot Walterjn Roger, have it in my Amazon Cart as I type. Not sure where to send them yet, trying to get water heater replaced with On demand system. The plumber has the flu
Rickochet Walterjn they also have cans of ground coffee you can run through your drip machine. I've always heard that instant coffee was crap, the café Bustelo instant is good. I run "lite" 50% decal through my drip machine. I pour a 32 oz. mug in the morning and head off to watch the news and play on the PC. I like the programable drip machine and like waking up to the smell of coffee. Then all I have to do is pour and go. The instant I had this morning I got a quick caffeine buzz from what little I drank. The cafe Bustelo has good ratings but it is supposed to be strong and it would probably knock my head off.
Walterjn Rickochet all depends on how much you put in the machine. It's gonna have less caffeine than a light roast. I was given some coffee and it's a light roast. After 2 cups I get the jitters and need to start pounding water to dilute it...
Rickochet Typhoon How old you figure it was? Didn’t know you could buy jars of instant coffee anymore. Age unknown but unopened. Krogers store brand. I had to go into Krogers today for new filters to fit the new coffee maker. I looked at the instant coffee offerings and they were at least 12 brands all in screw top jars. Tasters Choice was there in several flavors and it has been around since the Dead Sea was merely sick. I didn't notice if the jars were glass or plastic. I guess if you aren't shopping for it you wouldn't realize it still exists.
Walterjn Typhoon most of the cheap instant is packaged into plastic containers. The café Bustelo is definitely in a glass jar with a screw top. Wegmans should have a decent instant in a glass container for you.
Spuzz Typhoon Didn’t know you could buy jars of instant coffee anymore. The Tim Horton's instant coffee up here is sold in jars (at Walmart)
Typhoon Rickochet Tasters Choice has been around since the Dead Sea was merely sick 😂😂😂😂😂😂
garyt1957 KCee I love coffee, but I'm lazy so I'm not traveling with my AeroPress lol. We always buy a $10 coffee maker wherever we go and just leave it behind. Pays for itself easily but mostly I want coffee immediately when I get up and don't want to get dressed and go out.
Typhoon I never look at instant coffee. Since I stopped working in Supermarkets I just don’t notice it .
