I still enjoy greeting the kids in their costumes at the door. I started out with 165 pieces of primarily individually wrapped candy bars and little sacks of Mars M&Ms (with some Skittles mixed in) and I have about 1/3 left. It's a school night so we'll see if the numbers begin to dwindle her shortly.
It's interesting. A few kids don't even say "trick or treat". On the other hand, most greet me and then say thank-you and/or Happy Halloween as they leave the porch. When I invite all of them to take one of their choice, an elementary aged child took two and her older sister chastised her, and then looked at me as if to say sorry and should I give it back? My reply was I didn't see anything, smiled, and said Happy Halloween!
I enjoy engaging the kids and give the accompanying parent a treat too by letting their child pick something out for them. Maybe there's a Halloween spirit too.
