Can't believe only 1 person, so far, shot under 60 today. Soft AF, ball in hand, JDC. Figured we'd see a 54.

sdandrea1 That course is, for those guys, on days like today.
Last I checked, about 148 players were at even Par or under. But only 1 under 60. And he had a 27 on the front 9!!

Par4QC totally agree. The top 4 scores were 59, 61, 62, 63.......a few guys had 7 birdies on the back nine.

A sub 60 round used to be such a huge deal ... not any more. The days of a "59 watch" after someone posts a 29 on the front 9 are all but over. Springer's 59 came just 13 days after the previous (Cameron Young). Appropriately, there have now been 59 sub 60 pro rounds. One in the first 90 years, and 58 in the last 34. Eight in 2024 alone (covering all pro tours), including a 57 and 58 on the Korn Ferry Tour. Vegas should post odds ... I'm guessing they would be about 50-50 that we won't get out of July without seeing another one, lol.

Maybe not to you. Consider all the rounds played weekly, the different courses/conditions, on all tours.

Kinda like saying a hole-in-one is not a big deal. But they get headlines everywhere when it happens, Pros or amateurs. Why?

Any with 'ball in hand', as yesterday's, should have the good ol' asterisk beside them.

I played a wetter/softer course that JDC yesterday and never once picked up my ball, not even cleaning it.
And was paid nothing.

There is a slightly better than 50/50 chance that at least one hole-in-one occurs during a four day PGA tournament … and rarely receive “headlines” unless someone famous/in contention gets it. They get TV air time usually because it’s almost always a fun celebration. But, no, they are not a big deal either (unless speaking of mine).

Nice win by Robert McIntyre at the Scottish Open. Lost by one last year to Rory. He got a big break on 16 getting relief from the thick stuff because of a sprinkler head. Made a nice putt on 18 to win it ahead of Adam Scott.

PA-PLAYA So many older courses seem to finish soft for some reason.

OTOH, I'm thinking of at least FOUR of the 8-9 we play in our travel group that finish with "ball-buster" 18th holes.
All par 4's, and I should add, they're tough for ME b/c I don't hit the ball very far anymore, so it's always a challenge to get home in two, even from the senior tees. One of them has a big double-level green, I always have a fairway wood left to the green, and if the pin is on the upper level in back I know don't have a chance of getting there. HATE walking off #18 after a bogey to finish the round.....
