A worthy candidate for whenever the discussion of “unbreakable sports records” comes up.
Even if the odds of making three aces in a row wasn’t already astronomical - throw in the rarity/scarcity of three par three holes, in a row, even existing on a regulation course. I’ve seen three par threes in a four hole span … but never three in a row.

I've never seen 2 par 3s in a row on a regular course. I've only played one course that has consecutive par 5s.

Speaking of interesting layouts Lawsonia Links goes 3, 5, 3, 5, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5 on the back 9....love the back, sleepy good!

Broadlands ends on a par 3, can't say I like ending with a 3, but it's a good par 3.

Northern Bay has two 3's in a row on the front 2 and 3 with the 3rd being a replica of Augusta #16. Tough par!

There are very few good par 3,s, far too few IMO!

Sagamore Springs in Lynnfield, MA has back to back par threes on both nines … and they are numbers 8 & 9, and 17 & 18. Very strange layout.

Pretty sure I’ve never seen a par three as a first hole.

Our #12 par 3 here at the Gauntlet (P.B. Dye-abolical) plays just over 110 yards. Hardest short hole on the planet for me. Unless you come in really high and with shit-tons of spin, the ball won't hold the green. Big sand traps guard both left and right sides of the green and the green is sloped like a turtle shell. 🤬

A private club that I belonged to 20 years ago ended with a short ‘nothing’ par3. So a few years later they rerouted the layout to start with the par3.

So many older courses seem to finish soft for some reason.

A thing I hate is when all the par threes on a course are almost exactly the same length. Drives me crazy. There should be one that is quite short, one that is long, and two that are in between, and even those two shouldn't be nearly identical.

It's unusual, but there are a few that come to mind for me - a couple of local courses (Kilspindie and Winterfield) start with a par 3, as does Royal Lytham and St. Annes, one of the courses in the Open Championship rotation.

You can ease out of a bad round with a few decent holes so you'll want to come back. It's Genius.

OTOH, I'm thinking of at least FOUR of the 8-9 we play in our travel group that finish with "ball-buster" 18th holes.
All par 4's, and I should add, they're tough for ME b/c I don't hit the ball very far anymore, so it's always a challenge to get home in two, even from the senior tees. One of them has a big double-level green, I always have a fairway wood left to the green, and if the pin is on the upper level in back I know don't have a chance of getting there. HATE walking off #18 after a bogey to finish the round.....

I’m with you. Golf is too damned hard for people who get out to play only once or twice a week.

When I’m playing a course and it’s one hard hole after another, I’m not having much fun. What I’m having is a lot of aggravation. But you give me a handful of holes where I can have 4-5 reasonable birdie putts, I don’t mind a hard hole here and there. That’s a fun course to me.

I like that. I've played a # of courses where they start you off easy enough and then 9 and 18 are also maybe "gettable" or at least straightforward, but many courses have a tough #10. That's ok if you're playing 18, but if you're playing 9 off the back for a league or whatever it sucks. Most of the courses I know around here have difficult #10 holes. Maybe a New England thing?

10 years ago this week was Jordan Speith's 1st Tour win, at the John Deere Classic. He won here again just 2 years later.

He's baaaack.......

Not a so bad a field as in past years. Cantlay and Cam Davis did pull out.

And the players are going to get their asses wet as is typical for here. Other than that, weather is really nice. Typically it's a sauna for tournament week.
