Daughter found out the pipes are in the attic, so that explains why they are frozen.
They are PEX, not copper, so that will help tremendously. But the brass fittings are still vulnerable. Leaving water dripping can keep the lines from freezing. I know it seems hard to believe, but it is a tried and true thing in the north country. You need just less than a steady stream.
Daughter is on the list for a plumber to respond. Really all they could do is take a turbo heater into the attic and try to see if that does the trick. If the pipes to the house are frozen, forget about it.
I looked at the temperature map of the state. Wow. Plumbers are going to be busy for a long time.
