KCee It's always the perfect zig and zag scorecard. They know better than to play well in an individual event.

There is a slight fix to that BS.... I've played in a number of events that set the competition to:

If you improve your first round score by 'more than 8 shots', you move up a flight (or DQ).s
Guess what scores usually wins their flight ? That's right, exactly 8 shots better when leading. 🙄

Eguller We have that for certain events, but the Pal is done usually just Sat and Sun. They also tend to win in other single day events. We have a Blind Draw and any A player that gets one of these guys as the B is placing and that event pays well. The Handicap Committee posts the individual scores from those tournaments, but these guys manage to butcher enough holes to shoot no better than 90 while providing a # of net birdies and even net eagles.

Honestly it's impressive handicap management. They never go low during individual events and win huge, but over the season they win quite a bit of money and pro shop credit.

Eguller As I’ve said before, I don’t even bother playing in anything like that anymore. I wish more honest golfers would just say screw it and not play in anything. Let the cheaters try to out cheat each other.

I used to laugh at the senior group I went out with as a kid. For 9 holes I’d have to make 13 points. I never played it for money but I’d keep track. Everyday some guy would come in plus 8…. So the guy who only had to make 2 points makes 10. They all would bitch. Next day another guy is plus 6…. It’s like Ricky Bobby in Talledega Nights, “if your not first, you’re last.”

Eguller Yup. There's always a few guys ~ 25 that shoot low 80's. I think I would have needed to shoot 73 to tie for 3rd lol.

Shot a 71 today! That is, our team shot a 71 in a 4-man scramble on a par 72 course with 113 slope rating. Easily the worst scramble score I've ever been a part of! We hit a grand total of 4 GIR, and couldn't make a putt more than 6ft out.

I do believe I had a first today. After 52 years golfing, I don't get many firsts.

An entire 18 holes with NO 1-putts. Hit 13 greens, missed 13 birdie putts. Missed 5 greens, failed to get up and down on any of them. 38 putts total. A couple were just bad putts, but I had several lip outs, and several others looked in with 2-3 feet to go and somehow didn't.

One of those days where I hit the ball well but not close and didn’t make any long putts. Hadn’t pallets for 3 weeks and last weeks range time was a disaster. I did figure a couple things out from that disaster though. Our first hole par 5 I hit drive down the middle and a 5 iron uphill from 180 on the green. So that was a good start. Hit only one bad drive left, but not bad. Iron ball flight was good. Only 2 I didn’t like were to right side flags. I tend to get aimed there but my shoulder line is at the middle of the green. My shots tend to follow my shoulders.

Anyway, -3 today. Thinking of benching the Tyne 4. The feel is just awful sometimes and the ball doesn’t come off the face right.

So on our 6th hole I hit my only bad drive. Left into a fairway waste area. The old group behind me, one of the women says “nice shot!” I said “thanks… right on the beach…. Spent enough lying on the beach week, was hoping I was done”. She replies,” it’s better than the water!” I just waved. There is no water anywhere to hit into🙄

KCee Ha! No not with the P7TW blades! I had 180 slightly uphill. Old school lofts and steel DG 120 shafts so is like a manual transmission vs an automatic!😁

Tale of two nines today.....I shot 37-44-81 at Sandy Creek GC in Monroe, MI, one of my favorite courses. The front nine I could do nothing wrong, but on the back I could do nothing right....☹. When I finally hit the 17th and 18th greens in regulation, I proceeded to 3-putt both of them. Disappointing day.....8 GIR / 1 birdie / 34 putts.
