78 at Tarpon Springs. Had 1 birdie. Excellent ball striking especially my irons. Hit a nice tee shot (7 iron) on the par 3 4th. Had ~ 155 and it was going right at the flag. Yelled drinks!!!!🍻 But wasn’t to be.☹️ Missed the birdie putt.

The heat wave finally broke. Low's and cloudy with a little misty rain a couple of times.

I shot 39 on the front and as we made the turn I had thougts of breaking 80 for the first time. Alas, it was not to be and we won't even talk about the back nine. Really, I wasn't striking the ball that well on the front, I just made a lot of one putts that kept my score down. When that didn't happen of the back.....

My daughter invited my buddy and I to play the ultra exclusive course she is doing an internship at a few hrs North in swanky Muskoka with multimillion $ cottages abound. This course has a $200k entry fee and about $20k annuals.

Teed off at 4pm, I was tired from being up at 345 and working until 1230 so struggled with my irons mostly but did hole out from 160 on the 383 yard par 4 , first and made a couple other birds tto shoot a 40/40 = 80 . Putter was en fuego...only 24 on the round ( 0 putts on 1 helped)

Got a reminder today of how "Hilly Golf" is different from "Flat-Lander Golf"....... I played Chapel Hill GC in Mt. Vernon, Ohio with my son, and it took a while to get used to the elevation changes compared to back home where it's flat as a pancake. I managed 40-40-80 to his 87, but even from the senior tees, he pounded a few well past me.
8 GIR / 33 putts / 0 birdies. Delightful day to play for a change.....high of 75 degrees, light breeze, actually had to wear a pullover to start the round!!

80 today at Stonewall Golf Club, Gainesville, VA. Me, PapaC, SIL Kurt and Grandson Jesse. Jesse has a multi- school HS 18 hole tournament tomorrow, so he wanted to get a look at the course. Beautiful place, ritzy neighborhood, awesome day! He and I head back up tomorrow.

Played our Sunday Night 9 hole Mixer. Blind Draw. 5 person scramble. Meh.... We knocked it around ok. Got to 3 under. Think 6 or 7 under was in the money. Fun though. Hit some good shots, made some putts.

I shot 39-39-78 this morning at Stone Ridge GC in Bowling Green, Ohio. I had TWO penalty strokes
(water balls 😡!) on two "nemesis" holes that always give me problems.....and that kept me from shooting a few
strokes lower. The course was in great shape.....!! 6 GIR / 29 putts / 1 birdie / 1 double bogey.

I almost made it through a round without a double bogey or worse. A bad drive (the dreaded lobwood) on 16 got me. This is par 4 I can't reach in two so the drive put me in hole that hard to recover from, yet a pitch and putt still gave me a chance for bogey. I don't know that I've ever made it through a round with nothing worse than bogey.

Mid 80's but humid. The course was packed in the morning. We usually play here on a Wednesday and tee off a bit early. Today they were running a bit late. Apparently there a two early morning leagues on Tuesdays. We made a note to ourselves to play somewhere else on Tuesdays. Still, we got around in about 4:25 so it wasn't terrrible.

Used the new Top Flite XL Control ball. On #6 & #14, I had the longest drives of my life, on those holes!!! Not a bad ball for distance, and played well off irons and putter. Not much spin when hitting the green, but I do have a lower ballflight than most.
Just feels a lot firmer than what I normally use.

Contemplated not playing yesterday because the tee sheet was full and the last few times out my driver was everywhere. Decided to suck it up and go out. Nobody there🙄….so that was good, I didn’t ask questions.

Bombed every drive down the middle. It was like someone else was hitting it. Irons were great too. Putting was fine if I didn’t think.

Shot 38 in league last night and won. Weird round for me as ballstriking was just ok, but short game was very good. The pins were in really tough positions and I got up and down several times which is not like me lately.

Thought I had a chance at finally getting a HIO on #16. Steeply downhill was playing ~ 140 with front pin. My opponent hit a beautiful shot that looked like it was going in but stopped maybe a foot away. I hit my ball just slightly better and it looked like it clipped his a bit and stopped about 6 inches from the hole.

I was cruising along with a decent round going through 12 holes, but then tripled two in a row and collapsed. The last 6 holes were all doubles and triples and I ended up shooting 96. Demoralizing.

MidwayJ That sucks. I did that Sunday. Was really solid through hole 13 and then butchered 14 thru 17 for a 90. After lunch my group wanted to go back out for another 9 and I said I had to mow the lawn, but I just didn't want to play again lol.
