80 today with a bogey on 18🤬. 80 yards away in two on the par 5 and chunky choke it into the bunker. Nice out, and just missed the par putt. 2 birdies on the day.

Damn weathermen. We were all supposed to die here today. Severe thunderstorms, tornadoes. Rain supposed to start at 11am. Figured I could get to the course at 10:15 and get 10 or so holes in, maybe rain holds off a bit. After about 4 holes , sun is out 80* a bit windy but simply beautiful. I didn't plan anything because the forecast was so bad so I ended up at the slumpbuster again.
Played the other course today (par71) shot 81. New swing thought is keeping my arms away from my body on the backswing and forward swing and throw it like a frisbee, left handed. Scary good today. Hit two drives 240 and a couple more 230 and didn't feel they were severely wind aided. Only hit 6 greens but several were missed because I hit the ball a club farther than normal. A double on a par 5 was the only real blip where I got in the trees and couldn't get out. two 450 par 5's where I was off the green but pin high in two.
Tons of helicopters and buds on several greens made making anything of substance impossible. Didn't chip as well as I have been costing me some strokes.
Very stoked about this swing, lol. I know, I know, swing thought #749. But I had easy power and easy on the body. Started pulling it a bit at the end off the tee resulting in a few bogies. Can't wait to play again.

I shot 39-37-76 today at "Historic Old Ottawa Park" Golf Course in Toledo (celebrating its 125th anniversary this year....one of the oldest public courses in the country). It's short, yes (about 5100 from the back tees where we play), but perfect for seniors like our group. 9 GIR's, 3 birdies (2 chip-ins), and 31 putts. This statue of the man
who built the course still stands near the first tee today.....

Watched a short clip last night with Jack telling a tale. He said that wayyy back, him and Arnie were playing and Arnie asked him why he was chipping from close to the green, instead of putting. He tried it, and has been doing it ever since.
I find that's not reasonable very often, if rarely, on the courses I play. Too many unkept fringes, etc. esp. in the front of greens.
But today I did find a few playable as the season is early and courses aren't torn up too badly.
Found myself in the situation where one was about 20-25' to the green then 15-20' to the cup. Birdie!!
That was #13, sitting at +1, and after parring 14 I got to thinking....shoot your age?.....4 (kinda) easy holes to finish.
Bad thought.......75.🤣

I'll take everything I got today, on any other day, after not playing for over 7 weeks.
New driver is the shits btw. Rogue ST TD LS. Not the Max.

Not today and a bit of a brag post but played in the first AM Tour Event of the season Monday down in Fort Erie and found a nut. Shot 81 with a triple and no birdies but made 11 pars and won by 1 stroke.

First round of the year. Played with the plastic still on the irons. 9 holes -4. Hit the G400 LST and it was great. Better than most things. The TW irons were great. Greens were terrible. They spiked them with the skinny tines but they were also bumpy and shaggy.

I came in and one of the pros says to me “how are the greens rolling?”. I laughed, I said “ they are bouncing at around a 2.5”.@

Was actually able to finish my round today. We only waited about 10 minutes and got back to it, it even got nice for awhile and then started raining again on 18.
Anyway. Anybody know a Gypsy who can cast a spell on me so I can always hit the ball this well? I'd seriously pay $10K.
I shot 39-38-77. Was pulling the driver early , only hit 2 FW on the front, but crazy distance (for me) again 3 drives at 240. Straightened it out on the back and hit 7 of 8 FW's. Every hole on the back where I hit the FW I hit a GIR except one and that was a 450 par 4 that I left 5 yards short. Who knew FW's are important?
2 birdies including one on my worst shot of the day . Hit a tree limb on a par 3 and left it 60 yards short. Promptly pitched it on and one high bounce and in the cup! Better lucky than good. Also left 4 putts dead center like 2-3" short. Could have been a really good round.
Going to Vegas and AZ next week, we'll see if this holds up on much tougher courses.
