48 + 40 = 88
Played a practice round at my next tourney course.
Great condition and well watered. Course played long, rough was thick and greens slow.
Back pins were tough on several holes and struggled on two holes to 3 putt. 😰

Highlight:
The course has yellow very forward tees.
My wife, who has broken 100 once, had a 3 foot birdie putt on a par four. 😎
🤬Missed it. 😭 Par....we tied that hole.
She tied or beat me on several holes with bogeys. Can't remember the last time that happened. 😱
She had fun!

I went around my little course 2x, both times from the forward tees. 1st time I went birdie, par, bogey. I finished the 9 at 3 over.
The 2nd time around, I went birdie, double, bogey, par. I finished that 9, 7 over. My best 3 shots of the day were the 7 iron into the wind on 4. It was a beautiful high draw that hit the green, i 3 putted for par. The 3 wood from 200 into the wind, ball stopped left side of the green on the collar. The last one was a very high 60°, 108 yards onto the green on hole 8, I did have a helping wind. It plugged. I did make par on that one. It was a great time with a couple good buddies.

I shot 41-39-80 this morning at Eagles Landing GC in Oregon, OH. The place is only 10 minutes from my house, always in good shape, but I only play there 2-3 times a year b/c they have some of the goofiest greens I've ever played. They got me again today, as I three putted a couple of times and missed a short birdie putt on the last hole that I KNEW I needed to break 80.....oh well. I hit 8 GIR, 33 putts, no birdies.

Played in an MGA tournament today. CPO. 38-41-79 with only 5 greens and 27 putts. I won 2nd net in 1st flight, plus a skin. 🙂 I had 10 one-putts and 1 three-putt from long range. I was making everything. But only one birdie because not many greens in reg. I had a triple from a bunker; first try I left the ball in, and second try over the green into jail. My sand play is still a disaster. I'm going to switch to just chunk it out instead of trying to play a "good" technique. I guess I don't practice enough or else I just suck. Well, probably both to be honest. Time for an Alien wedge? 🙂

My new heavier stiffer irons are still missing greens but in different fashion from the previous set. Instead of sailing big draws off the left side, I'm hitting these about 2 grooves thin and coming in straight but short. But that miss is a lot better than the big draws. Somewhere there are iron shafts that fit me. Something in between the last ones and these. I'm very very tempted to play tomorrow's team game with my 50 year old Ping Eye irons.

Played the same irons today, but they aren’t doing it for me. I’ve learned something from trying, but the old ones were better. I will keep trying to narrow it down.

83 with only 5 greens again. 31 putts. I left several 20-25 footers short and right on line. Grrrr.

We rode our A and C players to almost a clean sweep in the money game. I contributed on several holes but not like they did. Our 81 yo A player shot 76 with 4 three-putts. 7X club champ.

Shotgun start tournament today. Shot 38/41 for 79. Made 2 birdies but no skins and not sure we even placed.

KCee We actually did win the best ball by 1 shot. Our playing partners finished 3rd. We actually tied our cart vs cart match although we eked out points on junk.

Played 9 with my dad in Utah at a cool track called Talon's Cove on the west side of Utah Lake. Never played it before, using clubs I don't know, etc.

Hit 'em really well today. Had two bogies and the rest were all pars. Good times. Perfect weather, too.

      38/36-74
      6 GIRs
      10 FWs
      1 birdie
      3 bogies
      25 putts

Was trying to beat the temp again, but the forecasted high of 76 never made it; only got to 73. And I had 3 of the nastiest strokes ever on #18, to set up an ending bogey.🤬

Last weekend being Labor Day weekend and today being NFL opening, I cannot believe how packed the courses were both Sundays! And slow AF.

Great weather, but summer is coming back for the rest of the week.....upper 80s/lower 90s.

I did an emergency reshaft over the weekend. I put the iRN shafts back into my irons, took out the heavier, stiffer shafts. Today I hit 10 greens, so the universe is back in balance. 🙂

Front 40 with a birdie, double and triple (just a bad bounce, basically)
      Back 37 with two birdies
      29 putts.

I again missed some good looks at birdie from 15-20 feet. Just like last time, they were right on line and just short. The LAB putter continues to make me better, though. And Aimpoint Express, definitely, although nobody wants to hear about that. 😉

Agreed! I have been playing around with a Cobra 3D Printed Agera Armlock Putter. I definitely see much the same as a Mezz same roll same low dispersion rates at the hole. Tech in putters is real and I'm more of a traditionalist. I can see the improvement in performance tech allows.

Hmmm. Imagine how great Corey Pavin would have been if he had ditched that low tech Bullseye putter. 😳

Eguller Hmmm. Imagine how great Corey Pavin would have been if he had ditched that low tech Bullseye putter.

I'm no Corey Pavin and if tech can help hackers I'm all for it. 😉 BTW, do remember Pavin played Cleveland VAS irons the most high tech shovel irons of their time for that 1995 US Open win at Shinnecock Hills.

Pavin's 4 wood shot. Steel shafted 4 wood a club that is obsolete in today's game. ☺

Typhoon You’re judging that based on watching pros, who almost all take a long time to read putts no matter how they do it. I walk partway to the hole, quickly feel the slope, then go hit the putt. No walking around to look from other sides, no books, no plumb bobbing, no asking my partners to look at it. Often I can get my read before it’s my turn. I make sure not to slow down play for my reads. Anyway, let’s not re-litigate this here.

Eguller I play with a few guys, and I mean few, who are just good putters. They see the slopes and lines better, they control distance better, they hit putts on their lines. They are good.

              They are 1 percenters.
