sdandrea1 this guy sings Persian music, and from what I understand, Persia is now Iran. He said he was there up until about 6 years ago. The government there had him thrown in prison for at least one of his songs.
So I think both in this case...

Shot 91 in the senior golf league (par 70). No birdies, so the streak of skins ended at three. Couldn't adjust to slow greens today after playing on fast greens the prior two rounds. I 3-putted 4 of 5 GIRs.

The positive was no blowup holes. Nothing on the card worse than a double bogey. Again thanks to my handicap I sneaked into the money with 5th place in my flight.

Five GIRs
38 putts 😕

Improbable Chip in birdie on the first set the tone for a good start....but tripled the par 5 , 9th from 50 yards out ( bunker Hell ) for a plus 4 , 40 front. birdies on 10 and 17 mixed in with a double on 16 and a couple 3 putt bogeys for 38 back.

A lot of coulda shoulda woulda but can't complain, plus wRm enough for wearing shorts in late October here is a bonus

Mattyv Just catching up on some pots. I have been very busy lately. This gets my vote for post of the year. Happy belated birthday, hope the pacer is working well and nice round!

      Thanks!

Pacemaker is doing it's job! Don't even know it is there.

That putter needs a timeout. Or at least a good threatening. Mine has been on good behavior all summer. We will see how it performs on the winter grass. Way to keep the blowup hole off the card.

I had trouble allowing myself to pound longer putts on the slow greens. But failing to make any of the 6-10 foot par putts I left myself with might have been the putter's fault. 🙂 Also, mediocre chips and short pitches spoiled some good opportunities to have more makeable par and bogey saves.

MidwayJ If the green speed is so far off that I have to pound putts, I just dismiss the round knowing I’m fine, the greens are just unkept

A bit of exaggeration on my part. They weren't so slow as to be unreasonable, but they were a huge change from very fast greens played the prior two rounds. I just didn't adjust well enough. I did OK on downhill putts but the uphill ones got me.

MidwayJ that's one of the hardest things when you play multiple courses, different green speeds. They can vary so much

Typhoon. I play a course near me with my BIL sometimes because his golf budget isn't too high and they have $18 Tuesdays. The greens are so slow I'll putt side saddle so as not to screw up my regular stroke

MidwayJ I always find it hard to adjust when they are completely different from the previous rounds. Apparently my brain doesn't like change and even putting on the practice green doesn't translate to the round. I'm playing this weekend and they will probably be fast again since the rain has finally stopped.

81 at Tarpon Springs. Had two birdies. Had the driver and fairway woods in control today. Especially my 3 wood. Roasted some beautiful 3 woods today.

Quick nine this morning, CPO and muddy. I wore black shoes and socks for Mike. @SMT
I used an armlock putter without any real practice time to get used to it. I didn’t do very well with it. But I chipped well. Maybe I need a putter that you hit with a chipping stroke.
Anyway 42, 16 putts. 3 greens, and I 3-putted two of them. Bah.

Got out for nine at the local muni today. Good weather except for a gusty breeze. Bookend birdies ware the highlight. Missed two 4-6 foot putts because I didnt hit them hard enough (didn't leave them short, but missed them both low). Had ona blow-up hole, with a water ball and a two-chip, leading to a triple.

Despite that hole and the missed short putts, I managed a 41.

Mostly the round was disappointing, but the way I birdied the last hole was so fun it made me forget a lot of the other issues.

Another incredible Mi day. Wore shorts on October 27th! I shot 42-44-86 but actually hit the ball really well except for wedges for some reason. 3 times on Par 5's I had wedge in hand for my third shot and lined them all over the green, and over the green is pretty much dead. Cost me 4-5 shots easy. Not sure what that was all about.
I think we're kinda done for playing for score. Greens are getting a bit rough and all the leaves are impossible to putt through.

garyt1957 Went out for a quick round yesterday around 2pm. Between the sun and leaves it was nearly impossible to play. I lost every ball I hit on the first 3 holes that didnt land on the green and only one wasn't in the fairway. Think I lost 8 balls in 3 holes. Wasn't just me , looked around and all you saw were carts circling. I didn't have the time or patience for that so I quit. Played a couple more holes just dropping balls at various distances and hitting into greens. Even a ball just off the green was hard to find. Packed it up after 40 minutes and went home.

85 at Timber Greens. Stunk it up on the front with a 46, but came to life on the back with a 39. Probably the worst front nine I've ever had at Timber Greens.

One of my buddies had a chance to break 80 today, but shot an 82 instead. He had 3 birdies which is a lot for him. So we were rooting for him.

39* F plus a 20mph wind and some drizzle and wet flurries. Did I play, F yeah.....even played the deeper tees at 6650.

                    43/39

Ball was not going far. Eg: par 3 , 4th hole plays a bit down hill but today into the fan.
@167 yards would normally be a 6 or 7iron with the 10% elevation, today nutted a 3 iron ( my usual 190-200 club) and came up 20 yards short lol

Typhoon This time of year you play the shit balls you have in a shag bag

These were all found balls, so no big deal on the loss but it's just no fun if you literally never find a ball. I should have taken a picture, on a lot of holes the fairway was clear as could be until 200 yards out then the leaves started and went to about 250. Then a little clearing and the greens were covered. It looked like they dumped all the leaves right where 90% of the people would drive the ball.

garyt1957 on a lot of holes the fairway was clear as could be until 200 yards out then the leaves started....

Then I could have played the same ball ALL DAY LONG!!! 😂 😂 😂

garyt1957 Right after I read your post yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine who played Saturday amd said it sucked because it rained leaves all day and nobody could find a bal

Typhoon Whiny bastage. I would have played in rain and leaves rather than the Friday and Saturday I had.

                        36* F, a 2 club wind ....lets play golf !

3 of the staff ventured out just before lunch. Definitely a cool, Fall day, even a few snow flakes flew but mostly sunny and a great day for golf.

Started on the back to avoid a couple of groups of walkers who just teed off.
41/40 and played in under 3 hours

Shot 48/52 in the senior golf association tournament. It was 31* when we teed off but it can't be an excuse. It had warmed up to the 50s when I went 12 over par on the last 4 holes. 🙃 Glad I'm not playing next week.

                            Weirfan 36* F, a 2 club wind ....lets play golf !

Nice playing in those conditions!! We're playing tomorrow in low 40's temps 😞.....not exactly "my cup of tea" at my age, but I'm not ready to quit for the season, so we'll see how it goes.

                              fatshot

Not my favourite conditions by any means but our season is rapidly coming to an end so any day that I am not working and the temps are above freezing is in play now.

MidwayJ Ever play Oakmont? We are thinking of moving over by there. In which case I need to find a new club. Also looked at lantana.

No. I've played very few private courses. The NTSGA rotates each week to various public courses in DFW.

83 at Tarpon Springs. First off the tee just before sunrise. 53 degrees with some wind. Tarpon Springs is an old (built in 1927) style Florida course. Stand on the practice green and you can see several holes.

40-39-79 at Giant Oak Golf Club in Temperance, MI today. Cold and windy today, so played with stocking cap,
rain pants and cart mitts between shots for the front nine. Finally got up to 47* sunny and windy by the time we
finished. 7GIR;s, 31 putts, no birdies......glad we played though; we had the golf course pretty much to ourselves
and had a great time.....even was able to hit the ball pretty well considering how bundled up I was. Hopefully, it
will warm up and we'll have more seasonable temps next week.
