1st round in a month, and only went to the range once in that time, so low expectations. Played one of the nicer CCs here, Hacienda GC, designed by William Watson who would complete Hacienda and then head north to design the Olympic Club courses. Hacienda is a tight course with really small fast tricky greens.
My play was better than expected. 11/14 fairways, 7 greens, and a shockingly good 26 putts. The 3 I joined up with opted for the blue tees at 6650 yards (par 71) and I went along. I think it is time to say farewell to the >6500 yard tees. Not counting the par 5s, I hit a 3w or 5w into 6 greens, including 3 of 4 par 3s. I only hit two wedges into greens. Still, I lost only one ball, but still managed to avoid any doubles and ended up at 77.
