Senior CC 3rd qualifying round, sitting on a 74 so not much chane of qualifying. Course was backed up with 4balls so myself and GG teamed up with the 2ball in front of us. Wish he hadn't. 2nd holes requires a fade and I hit a beauty, starting line perfect, fading back to middle of fairway, no chance of out of bounds. One of the 2ball hit OB then his 2nd ball low and left towards the rough betwwen #2 and #7.
GG is left and long so I got to help him find his ball (was on #7 tee!) then went back to mine. OB guy meanwhile is atnding over a ball that couldn't possibly be his, and hits it towards the green before I can get there to check. There's no sign of another ball so I'm screwed without running all the way downhill to check whether he played mine, (he still wouldn't show it me even after he finished the hole) or all the way uphill to play 3 off the tee. In high 20s heat and the tee backed up? I don't think so,
So I'm out of the senior CC and ended up walking in after 8; took us 2h40m to do those 8, so heading for 5-6 hour round in uncomfortable conditions (for me) with 2 guys who won't look for a ball other than their own, stand on the line of your putts, think there's no penalty in strokeplay for playing from the wrong tee, one of them on a single seat ride-on who thinks nothing of driving directly behind me when I'm lining up a shot ... not the best day I've ever had on a golf course.
Worst part might still be to come - I got their first names but not their second so how do I avoid getting paired with them again??? 🤣
