Golf_ghirl's partner pulled out of their medal tee time late afternoon so I did the gentlemanly thing and stood in to mark her card. She had a poor front 9 but once she settled a creditable 43 (par is 36) on the back 9. Big problem at the moment, her immediate boss had a major heart issue a while back and has been absent since then (successful op but long recovery) so she's had to cover his duties and her own, very stressful, even a decent salary uplift can't make up for that. Finishing a works call at 345pm and teeing off at 415pm ... no good, even in a ride-on.
I was just playing for practice, but I decided to crank up my driver swing and hit some real long ones (for me). I also went flat out on some short iron approach shots and they were working well too, as was my distance control on longer putts. Couldn't catch a birdie but a lot of easy pars, including a sand save on 18.
I may play tomorrow's medal or might rest up prior to Thursday's senior league match.
