Finally got to play a course other than the slumpbuster. Shot 41-41-82. Nothing special to report, did nothing outstanding but nothing horrible except one shank. Highlight was a 60 yard pitch to 6" for birdie on a par 5.

Got out for 9 again today before work. Weather here has been unseasonably warm so I took advantage of another round. Probably tomorrow too and THEN I should be done for the season.

Par 34, I shot 27. Birdied the first 6 holes. My 2 pars were lipped out 20 foot birdies. Still back with the G400 max, irons came back and just for shits the Ping Sigma 2 Tyne4 that resides in my basement has just had 2 crazy good rounds of putting. Amazing for a putter that I hate the sound of.

Been in a downward trend since Desert Storm index has climbed almost 2 full points and is now the highest in 3 -4 years.

today was a bit better, actually struck it quite well but it didn't translate into my score. Greens are wickedly firm and fast so 4 , three putts didnt help and for whatever reason the bunkers which are usually ok, were hard and lacking sand so in 3 green side bunkers , bounced into to ball each time whereas normally It's a strong suit of mine.

Only one budgie along with 4 dubs and ended up 84

I played with my pro's irons ( latest gen PXG) with MMT 80 stiff shafts and they are 2 degrees upright. This is not at all the fit I would put myself in as I prefer heavy steel and being shortish in stature have always choked down an inch on stand clubs or will play 2degrees flat.

i had taken Some swings with these on the simulator and was hitting nice tight baby draws whereas my ball flight for decades has been a controlled fade. I hit these irons quite strait today and in a post round discussion it was felt that my OTT swing that results in me hitting a fade was counteracted by the upright lie. ......i'm not 100% sure but seems to make the most sense . I hit the upright lie clubs again and get on a lie board as well.

i also find that I can swing much easier with the lighter MMT 80 so definitely contemplating a shaft change

29 today. Slow start Birdie, par and a rare bogey… rock hard green after a poor drive. The 9 iron first bounce on the green was like I hit a cart path. No up and down. Went on to birdie the next 5 out of 6.

Putter continues to amaze me. I’m taking no credit.

    Bravopilot

    That is a nice thought.
Weather here is enjoyable. We can comfortably golf pretty much 8 months ( April through end of November) with the fringes being meh.
I have talked about spending a couple months in winter in Zona, when the kids are done University maybe. Son wraps up his 4 year Computer Science degree in December. Daughter who got her BSc , just decided to do another degree. She wants to be a golf course Super and was accepted into the only Uni program up here that offers. So 2 more years of those bills to get away from.

38 39 today (77). 14 of 14 fairways. 1 birdie, 6 bogeys for 5 over. I have no idea why I played so well. This game continues to baffle me.

Typhoon Nice to see you back in the 70’s!

Thanks John. Felt great. I won 3 of the 4 bets. We play quota points with 4 bets. 1st 6 holes, middle 6, last 6 and total. I made 29 points today on a quota of 20, so my new quota will go up before the next round.

Off the tee - great. 13/14 fairways.
      Irons - great. 13 GIR.
      Chipping - good. 3/6
      Sand - great 1/1
Putting - 32 putts, made nothing over 4 feet. Ugh.

Slumpbuster, 41-41-82. Birdied 18 for the second round in a row. Still hitting some shanks from 50 ish yards.
Second round in a row where I played all hybrid set. Still not sold on the 9- pw- gw. And definitely don't like them for short chips when you have to get the ball up.

DonM Nope, 74. Tried to carry a bunker on the longest Par 4, missed it by 5 feet and cost me a double. Had a new putter that developed a little loose wiggle in the hosel area - bothered me. Got worse over the round, and by the end could move the head ever so slightly. Need to take that apart and figure it out.

Guy I texted to play with me never showed up or texted back so I went out myself. By the 5th hole I caught up to 4 drunks from one of our Thursday nite leagues. Joined them. Had a good time playing with them, good guys, love seeing them every week when they come in.

I only planned on 9 but I played the 18 with them. They’re drinking, smoking weed, in no hurry😂.

          81, 41/40
Hard course for me to break 80 on, so I'm good with that score.

Only 52* when we started and 59* when we finished, so never tried beating the temp today.🤣

Nothing to brag about, never kept track of any stats. I did have 2-3 drives that were my longest ever on those holes, on that course. Made no sense with the weather. And I was using a Penley Tour Light, S flex shaft!!

          https://byronhills.com/the-course/

Par4QC Penley Tour Light was one of my favorite shafts!! My actually favorite Penley!

Typhoon I used to get them from Rob, wayyy back when he started HOF. Him and Carter were(are??) good buddies.
Penley Tour Light & Harrison Striper were my 2 'go to' shafts. I have some new Stripers also; a couple are already in 455DB heads. Had 1 out a couple weeks ago and they are still an awesome combo!

Also have a couple Stealths, but are painted the colors for the old Ruger heads, gold/dark blue. At 72g they get a bit heavy now.😖

I’ve wasted the whole month of October, with excellent weather, on the injured list.

First I had a 3 inch incision on my arm to remove a skin cancer. Golfing was not allowed while it healed. Then on the day I got the sutures removed, I managed to split open a part of the incision while working on my golf cart. So more delays for further healing.

Now that I’m okay to play, I’ve had bronchitis for several days, following a cold. Going to get into the doc or urgent care tomorrow.

I had been hoping to play 100 rounds this year, but that’s not going to happen.
