80 at Tarpon Springs. Had one birdie. Smoked my 3 wood from 200 to 10 feet. Missed the eagle putt. My ball striking continues to be fantastic. The epiphany has lasted several months now. For some reason it doesn’t seem to be fleeting. lol 🤔

DonM Doesn’t sound like the driver hurt you any! 😉

I was spraying it and sometimes a low hook, sometimes high right. In play… but in the rough probably 30-40 yards shorter than where I should be. I’m not punching out of the trees. Just longer irons in, which I was hitting fine. But the putts end up longer…. A few weeks ago driver was great. Not missing fairways. Just need some range time to get it back

Grandson Jesse and I were teamed up with 2 other Thursday league buds in a scramble today. 4 clubs total in the bag was the rule. We got to 4 under....1 stroke out of the $.

Played the slumpbuster from the "tips" 6066 yards. lol. There are some long par 4's though 402-442-414- and a 542 par 5 but some short ones too.
Shot 41-40-81. One birdie. Some pretty mediocre chipping kept it from being a really good round.

Typhoon Just need some range time to get it back

Made it to the range today. Just hitting driver. Figured either out. I was closing the face on the backswing. Sort of rolling my wrists “under”. So it would either go left or if I hung on it’d be a block.

To correct it I feel like half way back I roll back my wrists to open the clubface ( it actually only feels that way, it really just goes to square) and it was all good again. Hit both the Ping G400max and the Stealth 2 Plus. Damn Ping though is just an awesome club. Sort of locks me into wanting a Qi10 max to replace my Stealth 2.

I took a hour and half off of working on the house today to get some range time in. Tested some new things and I’ll gladly report the following:

@LogicalOne LX1.XW 56* sand wedge shafted with a Kinetixx wedge shaft (on closeout from golfworks). This thing is money and wish I would’ve shafted it up sooner. For me it’s got the perfect amount of bounce, looks great at address, feels fantastic at impact.

Tried the xcaliber phoenix 5 in the Maltby TC Pro driver head. Nice lighter weight option that was very tight in dispersion. I’m not totally convinced I could put it in play and be consistent with the lighter weight. I’ll keep testing it to see if I could make it work.

Built up that budget friendly maurader putter
        from diamond tour https://www.diamondtour.com/golf-components/club-heads/putters-chippers/inazone-marauder-putter-component.html
Used a 2.5” putter hosel adapter I had left over from golfworks. Shafted with a xcaliber spin 100 graphite shaft, and a big dog pure red oversized grip. Honestly for the money this putter head is great. Very consistent rolls and slight mid hits are not punished. A very slight change in sound if you strike off center. It gets just a little ring to it, otherwise center strikes are a solid sound/feel. I know @DeepRed was interested in the feedback.

I’m going in a golf trip June 14–16 I need to get a couple rounds in before that. Maybe even a few 9 hole rounds would work.

DonM well you do know that if his driver was working for him, he would have been at -14... over 9...😁

Walterjn DonM well you do know that if his driver was working for him, he would have been at -14... over 9...😁

            Funny f#ker you are😁

colej Tried the xcaliber phoenix 5 in the Maltby TC Pro driver head.

How is the head overall? It looks awesome and makes me want to build a 44.5" driver with 75g shaft again and see if I can hit the ball straighter......but I'd probably do better with the TC Max version built that way 😞

                KCee

It’s really good and I think it would be perfect candidate for a shorter then “standard length” The feel and sound at impact is right up there with the big OEMs.

                It sits very flat though!

Thanks for the info, I think putters are grotesquely overpriced since almost none of them work more than a couple of rounds. Lol
                Looks like a real bargain.

Played the back nine twice again, CPO. I shouldn't have talked about my putter here, I jinxed it. Did not putt very well today. 83 with 6 greens and 34 putts. Nothing special to report.

DonM The last couple rounds I was channeling some old Don putting. Not 3 putting but missing left and right. This morning I went down to the putting green to try and figure out my problem. Found I did not have my eyes over the ball.

I played yesterday and today, It's been a while since I've played two days in a row.

Yesterday I shot 48/46 which is a stroke or two above my average. My drives were all over the place but that wasn't getting me in trouble. My putting, which usually is decent, was terrible. I 4 putted the first hole and it didn't get much better after that. It could have been a decent round...that's golf.

Today I played again with 3 friends that are new to golf or getting back into it. We just played a 2 man scramble, switching teams every 6 holes. Not great golf but fun. Beer and sandwiches at a local brewey afterwards.

Got involved in a 4 man team scramble. We were a man short, so the 3 of us rotated who would take the extra ball. Had 3 nice clean hits with my 60, all 3 hits flew 90 yards. Hit a nice 8 iron downhill, into the wind, to 10' from 150. Had a 20 yard chip roll the edge of the cup and change course.
We tied with both teams at -3...

Got out of work early enough for a very slow 9 holes in near perfect weather.

Parred the first five holes and had a downhill 4-footer for par on 6 that I left short!

Seven was a disaster, with a drive that went left into the junk, an approach that was wide of the green by about 20 yards, and a double-chip. Yikes. Felt a little bit like Nelly on Thursday for a second.

On 8 I hit a drive in the center of the fairway, missed the green left but not by much, and failed to get up and down. On 9 I hit a nice drive, leaving me 80 yards slightly uphill, right into the sun. Hit a ball and never saw it. Felt ok. Dropped another ball just for fun and hit it. Never saw that one, either.

When I got up to the green area, I found that the first one flew the green long. The second one was about 15 feet from the flag. It was a tap-in par from the second ball. I tried Texas wedging the real ball when I probably should have chipped. Ended up nine feet past the hole and missed the par putt low by about two inches.

Overall, though, a decent outing other than the 7th hole. Had a good time, and, as I said before, the weather was fantastic. I know that won't last.
